Do you feel like you're gonna give a fukk about the NBA when you're 40? I don't at all. My interest is at an alltime low. Im pretty much at the "wake me up when the playoffs start" phase. I tune in sometimes and have no idea who any but maybe 3 or 4 payers are where back in the day I could name damn near entire rosters. Currently there's literally a handful of players left from my "childhood" Kobe, Duncan, Pierce and Garnett. When they are gon I think ill officially be done as far as having an emotional connection to the game. After them, lll watch a few more years to see what the guys my own age do(LeBron, Melo, Durant). As I get older and the players become younger im just losing interest more and more every year

Put a little bit of money on the games.. not much.... 20 bucks even.. Makes the game way more interesting

Other then that I normally only care to watch the 2nd half of NBA games.. That's when the intensity really picks up

Being an elderly Knicks fan kinda made my interest dwindle once i settled into my 30's. I def turn up for the playoffs and scream at the TV like a kid, though. But I didn't even watch any of the all star festivities. I broze by the late night reshowing and saw lots lots of Hawks and other nondescript players.

Have to disagree with the OP....I actually love the NBA more than ever nowadays...Growing up in Brooklyn I HATED the Knicks, primarily due to their style of play...I recognized how their style resonated with the city, but was never a fan of it...Been a Nets fan since they drafted Kenny Anderson:francis:..My low point was around 2005 when the Spurs and Pistons made the Finals...Follow that with the refs giving Miami the chip in '06 and Spurs-Cavs in '07(yikes)....As a Kobe stan, watching Bean play with Smush Parker wasnt turning the dial either....Nowadays there is so much talent in the League that I'm thoroughly entertained even tho my squad is shytty...While I miss the gritty(A.I rocking 100k worth of jewels at press conferences, fights, etc), I do appreciate the open style of todays game...I guess the softening up of the NFL allowed me to look past the NBAs evolution..That being said I've grown to love college football....As a NYC breh I wasn't indocrinated like some of y'all brehs....I'm all the way in now....Surprisingly the sport I barely watch anymore is college basketball....I dont really begin paying attention until the last week or so before conference tourneys start...If I watch anything prior, its usually to see... a future NBA prospect:lolbron:...I grew up a college basketball junkie

FYI: The Malice At The Palace changed everything...For better and worse:sadcam:

No, it wasn't. You were just a kid, and therefore you were more easily entertained.

Life as a whole is more entertaining for a kid.

Put it this way... these 10-year-olds and 11-year-olds that watch basketball are every bit as entertained as you were when you were their age... and when you were that age, the people who are the age you are now were just as unentertained.
I agree as a kid I was much more entertained, but even still you can't deny the fact they had must see players on tv way more than today. More identifiable and recognizable as well.

I don't think me being 32 has affected my day-to-day obsession with everything about the leagues as much as me retiring from all fantasy sports 2 years ago has. Although you just become busier as you grow older...so you can't watch every single game. Plus family and other things take priority with most folks.

I will always love, root for and watch my yanks, knicks...but goddamn my passion runs deepest for my Giants. :mjcry:

Can't fukk with this thread at all. Even with the Lakers being trash, I think I love the game more than ever. It's never been more accessible and the league is LOADED with talent.

Growing up in the 90s, I couldn't watch every game online or buy packages to watch everything on TV. Now when that national televised game is :trash: you can go online and stream a Warriors/Grizzlies or Hawks/Thunder game instead.

I'm more into this season that the couple years prior. There is a lot of exciting basketball out there. The ONLY thing I dislike is how all of the superstars of today are best friends. I miss the hate fueled rivalries but that's not to say they aren't competitive. They are. It's just that I don't care for all the giggling. :manny:

I don't know if I would've said it like this, but yeah.

I miss

Miller vs. Starks
Jordan vs. Bird
Jordan vs. Isaiah
Jordan vs. Magic
Jordan vs. Everybody
Barkley vs. whoever
Sacramento Queens
Kemp vs. Malone/GP vs. Stockton
Admiral vs. Dream
Mutombo vs. anybody who came in the lane

There's no passion in the NBA anymore. Its one giant circle jerk and its going to kill the league. Especially with these jackasses trying to create super teams in glamour markets.

Also, IDGAF if "super teams" existed years ago. Its more common today. Players show no loyalty to their squads so it makes it easy for some fans to become apathetic.

As I reach my mid 30's I can say that I probably wont be as invested in the NBA as I used to be. It's already starting to happen now. Used to be a time no matter what if I was at home and someone was playing I was watching them. Now it seems like a task to sit for almost 3 hours to watch regular season matchups unless they have that special feel to them like Bron vs Kobe Bron vs KD CP3 vs Steph Russy vs Wall etc. I will always enjoy the game and I know that I will always be 100 percent in when the playoffs start but I think my involvement (including viewing games and reading articles about the game) in the NBA on a day to day basis will change a lot.
