The average age of the Knicks as currently constructed is 26. If 30 yo Arron Aflallo opts out, we get rid of 34 year old Jose Calderon, 33 year old Lou Amundson, and 26 year old Seraphin...that number only gets lower. Assuming Tony Wroten plays next season...a third of this Knicks squad will be 25 or younger AND in the rotation. I'm not anti-young players...I'm anti getting rid of serviceable veterans who CONTRIBUTE in the name of picking up youth for the sake of getting youth. All the successful teams have a good mix of youth and veterans.
That's a whole lot of "ifs" in there

As they stand right now, they aren't a young team, they are one of the older teams in the East. Look at who's in front of the Knicks right now, ask yourself how do they get better than those teams like the - Pistons, Wiz, Bucks, Pacers, Hornets, Raptors and Celtics who all have that very same mix of young and older vets, while still being younger with younger core players. How many more pieces do the Knicks need not to contend, but to make the playoffs over an 8th seed that needed 44 wins to get it.
What exactly is the goal of the Knicks? They are years away from contending and they may not even make the playoffs next year, so what are you building? Do you really think this team with Grant and Galloway starting at the 1 & 2 will make the playoffs? If Afflalo opts out and you get Conley do you think they make it with Galloway/Wroten/Grant playing at the 2? This team is a mess and it's like yall just can't see there's a lack of high level young prospects to truly build around, you have 1.
