Agreed. Melo blows a lot of hot air when he speaks, but the reality is we all know he's staying here regardless of how bad it gets. The last thing the Knicks need to do is hand out a bad contract or make a bad trade involving more picks.
I don't think Phil is gonna trade away any picks; if there was a time he would've did such a thing, it would've been this past trade deadline when the Knicks still had a shot at the playoffs, and he didn't. Phil has shown restraint when it comes to roster moves, so I have faith in him there.

I hope the Knicks do what Tre has suggested and get a first time coach, then go ahead with a rebuild. I don't care if Melo is on the roster or not, just tank; The rest of the East is younger and better, so the Knicks will essentially have no window of opportunity for a while(barring a miracle offseason that is).

The team's ending up with Rambis aren't they? :beli::to:
Thibs is the first one that should've been on the phone the moment the season ended.:wow: We're about to stuck with Rambis with our luck

I'm not sold on Luke Walton. I rather the Knicks go after a proven coach. No more of these 1st time experiments.
Derek Fisher was an experiment, but Luke Walton has been getting prepped to become a coach for a while now.

He won't waste his time with us so we can pretty much forget that pipe dream.

Actually a first time coach would do y'all some good if the rebuild is real. Brooklyn hired a coach in Atkinson who specializes in player development. The Knicks should do the same. Go after Bryan Gates from the Pelicans. Getting competent players on the cheap can make your team lethal when you pursue major pieces
:pachaha: imma be tight if Atkinson ends up being a really good coach because he was here under D'Antoni for those 4 years.

I need more receipts on this. Isola had been more wrong than right regarding knicks doings lately

Not much more reliable, but Berman said Walton didn't rule out NY but wasn't ready to discuss things further (he said Walton flat out told the Nets no but that the idea of working with Pjax intrigued Luke). I think Luke's a long shot, but Phil really liked him last coaching search and I think it's Luke's job to turn down before anyone else...even though I prefer Thibs by a mile.

Typical mess with no clarity whatsoever from the NYC media.
Isola: Luke got the call, Luke turned the Knicks down.

Berman: Luke got the call, said now is not the time. But when the Nets called he turned them down flat out.

Phil: I haven't called anybody, the press is full of crap.

Everyone conflicting each other and Phil looking justified for calling the media out last week (which some guys seemed to take personally).

Phil caught the media all the way off guard:laugh:

Regardless of whether it's true or not, I hope Phil keeps this up, it's entertaining.

Damn Isola reaching HARD with that "already turned down" comment. Walton interviewed for the head coaching job and his quotes about it indicate he would have taken that job for sure. The Knicks offered him a job as an assistant afterward and he chose to be Kerr's top assistant instead. That's some straight up spin to save face play right there.

He can come back to cali, however make it Sacramento because I don't want his ass nowhere near L.A.....

Phil can only manage or coach when there's hall of famers in place
