I don't get the conspiracy shyt. They took Trey because he had the highest ceiling in Kyle's system. He was the least ready to play but they had Jimmy. Nobody wanted to believe they was following the Smith-Mahomes model but that's what it was

Trey getting hurt fukked up the plan, that's it. Justin Fields not a good fit for this offense, that hitch in his throwing motion is not made for the quick hitters this scheme built around. Saw a breakdown before the draft his throwing motion literally take twice as much time start to finish as the other QBs. They was never gonna take him. Good thing they passed on Cac Jones too, that dude is ass

Purdy a good fit for this offense. He was a baller in college. But he got a ceiling, short with an average arm. In this system he can win though long as he don't commit killer turnovers. But if Trey can hit his potential, this offense go to another level

Also disagree this ain't a project league. Mahomes and Allen was both projects. Every QB last year was a project too, except Cac Jones who basically at his ceiling already but he trash
It's weird cause you could simply Google Kyle and Lance and 50 articles will come up with HIM telling everyone exactly why.. But still nobody can believe it's the truth and he thought Lance was the better QB....

I wonder why

What does that have to do with who is the better player going forward? And y’all having no basis to say Purdy is that guy since they have the same stats on equal footing and lance has better stats in total
It has to do with whether the Lance pick was a good one or not. That's what we're discussing. You have no basis for saying Lance is the guy when he hasn't showed us much of anything at all. I'm not saying Purdy should be the guy over Lance, but he did just reach a level Trey has yet to reach, and he's a rookie Mr. Irrelevant. That's not very encouraging for a reassessment of the Lance pick.

Again, I haven't seen anyone say Purdy should be handed the keys over Lance next season. But that doesn't mean Lance has been a success so far. He's done practically nothing and shown practically no excellence on this team so far, halfway through his contract. We can blame it on Kyle for not knowing how to put Lance in positions of success but that's assuming Lance has a gear Kyle has been unable to unlock, which we don't know at this point. The reason me and others were stumping for Fields is because he showed he could ball at the highest levels of college football and now he's putting it together at this level. He had polish and ceiling. All Trey had was ceiling and he hasn't shown us anything close to it so far.

Question is, if you could go back in time to the 2021 draft, are you telling the brass to pull the trigger on the Lance trade and selection? Are you happy with how that's turned out so far?

The overall point that is being missed is that Trey Lance has been handled POORLY by Kyle. You can't really access what he has when he is running an offense not fit for him.

Ok if y’all are discussing the trade for him, then that’s my fault. I have seen countless people, not just on the Coli, saying it’s time to hand it over. I’m not even saying if he doesn’t ball out, he shouldn’t be the starter. I’m saying neither one of these guys has had enough games to prove anything.

And that gets me to your question… the only QBs we could be talking about are Jones and Fields. We’d have still have to have traded up for fields. And we’d have mac and picks. We wasn’t getting the one. And we weren’t gonna pick something else with the first. Shanny even said fields wasn’t a factor but let’s go with it.

I’d still take trey. I have always been of the same thought as Shanny. That arm and that speed with this offenses weapons would be unstoppable. We’d have a mini mahomes but with great d. Chiefs NFC.

Now these other qbs have the benefit of having full seasons as starters. And the reigns handed over. And no good successor like Jimmy to split the locker room. And still it’s not even a sure lock that they are better than a guy with 6 games. Mac definitely isn’t.

My argument has been the same the whole time, about any qb vs lance. Can the man get a chance to start HIS team for a bit before we throw him in the trash. He hasn’t sucked. He just hasn’t played. Why is everyone so quick to replace him or look for the next guy or say it’s not worth it like he’s had two seasons of play

I think the thing is. It is way too early to say Lance is a success or failure and honestly the team is not crippled by picks we gave up for Lance or CMC short or long term. Lynch was aggressive to get Trey for a reason and he will most likely be the starter next year health permitting. We have the talent to develop properly and I'll hope Kyle learned from his mistakes. I mean lets give Trey a full season before we start calling a bust or saying he wasn't worth it.

At risk of starting another fight, I'm going to try to pivot conversation away from more QB fighting, to the core of the issue.

Kyle.

Regardless of whatever happens in the off season personnel wise he should not be the coach anymore. I can't be objective with him anymore after he got Deebo hurt, but I will try, and if you're really looking at how he calls the offense he clearly sabotages players when he doesn't agree with a personnel decision. He's taking more shots with Purdy than he did with Jimmy and Trey. He protects Purdy with his play calling more than he protected Trey. He has been calling plays to keep Kittle less exposed, but has straight up lines up Deebo as a back and running isos with him.

If he's the coach then he shouldn't be OC. If he doesn't want to give up that power then we should trade him like the Raiders did Gruden and give DeMeco the HC gig.

I'm not arguing QB preference with anyone else. It's impossible to know who's better than who when the coach calling plays is low key setting people up to fail until he gets his preferred archetype at QB.

And what I’m saying is it’s pretty crazy you making these statements based on one game of football

So all this “he dominated one game” is crazy when stats show they exactly the same. And when you factor in the next game, trey is better.

Sounds like whitebelieve to me.
what statements ? that Trey was running the ball on QB runs inside instead of passing the ball ? thats just stating the obvious. Trey never looked as comfortable passing the ball as Purdy has

yes, the sample size of Purdy is small and like Ive said he will likely crash and burn - but in that half, aside from the pick he got bailed out on by the refs, it was a dominant half performance, so much that second half became an afterthought. Trey doesnt have this yet in his arsenal.

and thats on Kyle

yes, and Kyle should be responsible for it. hes the one who picked a project to be developed and paid a hefty cost, and hes the one who needs to take blame for not doing shyt with Trey.

I've been saying this all season. Why give this guy up when Kyle is the problem? That HC/OC just ain't it. Give up those play calling duties. He never will though.

Kyle has made some disaster picks and the whole rookies don't play unless someone hurt is beyond retarded.

If we want to be honest, those first round picks we gave up probably would have been busts. Later rounds is where the bulk of success came.

The other thing these later picks cost way less. Like I don't even think a lot of 49ers fan (not saying here) even realize Dre Greenlaw is one of the best linebackers in the NFL this season and we extended him for a pretty cheap amount.

What u have to love about Purdy even if he comes down to earth...

- mobility. he can escape pressure

- Willingness to throw the 20+ yard sideline routes

- Can go through progressions and create when it's not there

Those are all signs of a decent QB. he also has 4 years exp at a power 5

I have to agree with this. I mean you get a top player for years before a bigger pay day. This is why I'm not terribly upset about the first round busts. We gained so much talent AND depth in those later rounds.

I'm all for Purdy having a cinderella season, I don't believe he will pull it off but I'd love to be wrong. Having said that, something tells me Niners management see a narrative opportunity and they are going all in with it...

:scheme:

I’m taking it one step at a time with Purdy I don’t know how he is going to turn out. With that being said I don’t think Kyle understood how raw Lance was and I have never believed Lance was Kyle’s choice.
Why is it so hard to believe Shanny is a stubborn motherfukker that thought he could make Trey the new Lamar Jackson/Josh Allen so he had a scheme in mind and ran it no matter what. That's WAAAY more believable to me than thinking he wanted Mac Jones and traded up for him when he could've gotten him without trading anything.

I'm always baffled when Niner fans say Kyle never really wanted Lance. Dude went ahead and talked him up for an entire offseason after he was drafted and was like a giddy little kid talking to the media on some "we trolled you guys!". Kyle is not a person that's gonna put on show for the cameras for 3 straight years, specially when he's the one looking like the moron in the situation. If Trey wasn't his choice and he wanted another QB in the 2021 draft, at this point he would've at least pointed to that or leaked something to Shefter.

I agree on the sentiment of "fukk Kyle" but I don't agree it's a personal gripe he has with players. I think dude just pictures schemes and plays with players in mind and runs them like he's playing Madden with injury sliders off. He doesn't think of health risks, he thinks about perfect execution, first downs and TDs. Then players get hurt and his ego drives him to think he can replace anyone either in the same scheme or come up with something new. Players are a piece of a puzzle and he's more concerned about solving the puzzles no matter what.

That mentality is doom to fail every single time and that's why I have no issue with him being gone. If he somehow gets us a 6th ring then he has the right to do whatever the fukk he wants and I'll shut up, but until he does....fukk him :pacspit:
