If he was a late first yes but a top ten pick needs to be one of the best tackles in the game and he is not.

Tackles bust all the time in the top 10, If you want to say McGlinchey was overdrafted that's arguable but he's never leaving this team If he can stay healthy this season he's getting an extension.

Left tackles yes but we are talking about a right tackle. We have too many people to pay to waste money on him. You can get a good run blocking mediocre pass blocking right tackle for cheaper

Let's take a look at out Wide Receivers
.
Wide Receivers

Deebo Samuel - 2019 1st round draft pick, after having a solid rookie year and missing a lot of 2020. Deebo had a breakout season in 2021. Amassing close to 2000 all purpose yards including 1400 receiving yard (eat that Keyshawn Johnson). He broke out as one of the NFLs premier playmakers. Whether it was at or behind the line of scrimmage. Deebo used his sure hands and runningback like frame, to become the NFLs YAC monster. He can do it all. He's fast enough to run past you, agile enough to run around you and strong enough to go through you if he must. As such Deebo did not like being used a runningback and he felt that he should get paid due to his elite production and while trade rumors persisted through June, he and the 49ers came to an understanding and with this new contract should allow him to become the 49ers #1 receiver and a star player in the NFL for the remainder of his prime.

Performance: A
Potential: A
Overall: A

Brandon Aiyuk - 2020 1st round draft pick. Aiyuk was drafted to be the Ken to Samuel's Ryu. With blazing speed and ability to make catches in traffic. Aiyuk has had a solid first 2 years in the NFL with 12 TD and 1200 yards receiving between year 1 and 2. Aiyuk is poised to break out this year as all reports are he's leveled up in the offseason getting even stronger and more aggressive catching passes in traffic, On top of that he seems to have good chemistry with Trey Lance who has the arm to get him those passes that are 20+ yards out where he can do a lot of damage in the open field. Like Samuel Aiyuk has a well developed route tree and while he and Samuel are not especially tall the have long arms and large hands built to catch passes on slant routes or in open field routes. I expect a 1000 yard season from him this year. I think could have had it last year if Jimmy Garappolo had better field awareness and a stonger arm.

Performance: B+
Potential: A
Overall A-

Danny Gray - 2022 3rd round rookie. Danny Gray from SMU. As a JUCO recruit he's had to fight his way to where he is now. Danny Gray is fast. Posting a 4.33 Speed is among the fastest of any receiver this draft and he isn't a small receiver at a comfortable 6ft and 200 pounds. It looks like he has already been coached up by WR coach Leonard Hankerson. Granted it was a straight out route but he ran it clean and with decisiveness. He now have a legitimate burner to take the top off defense and he will be part of the reason the offense will be more vertical.

Performance: B
Potential: B
Overall B

Jauan Jennings- 2020 draft pick. After redshirting his rookie season Jauan established himself as the teams #3 receiver, though earlier in the season he had a tendency to drop passes. He got much better later in the season and made not only key catches but made them on a consistent basis scoring 5 TDs. Jennings has the size to just outmuscle most opposing corners. After the departure of Kendrick Bourne to the Patriots we needed an ancillary receiver and Jenning depending on the formation will get snaps as he's also an excellent blocker in the running game. He is the big pass catcher which has eluded us for so long. At 25 already, I'm not sure if he has crazy upside but he should be a part of this team for the next few years.

Performance: B
Potential: C+
Overall: B-

Ray Ray McCloud - Former Steeler. McCloud is going to likely be the return specialist in place of the departed Richie James. Like James McCloud is on the smaller but where Richie James thin frame kept him from lining up much at receiver despite being a skilled route runner, McCloud has a more substantial frame and can line up in Cheetah packages or as a reserve in case of injury or spelling the likes of one of the starters. McCloud is an above average returm man and should net us good field position more often than not.

Performance: C+
Potential: C
Overall: C

Malik Turner - I expect he'll make the 53 man roster as WR 6. Of all the signings, he has the most college and NFL production and can do a little bit of everything. He can return, line up in formation and contribute as a special teams player. Good player to bookend your receiver corps.

Performance C-
Potential: C-
Overall: C-

Marcus Johnson - Will be in competition with Malik Turner but I consider him a bubble player but he has been a special teamer and he's very fast. He could be stashed away on the practice squad in case McCloud or Turner get hurt.

Performace: D+
Potential: C-
Overall: D+

Willie Snead IV - Sneed is a veteran WR but I think he is just a camp body. He has been in decline the few years and it may make sense to keep younger players in those reserve spots but he may still be in the mix as receiver 6 or if not he'll likely get a spot on the practice squad,

Performance: D
Potential: D
Overall: D

Austin Mack - 2020 UDFA from the Giants. Austin Mack is most likely a development prospect. He has prototypical size and can maybe develop in to reserve player in another year or two.

Performance: F
Potential: D
Overall: D-

Dontaevean 'Tay' Martin - 2022 UDFA. Developmental prospect. He has NFL hight but at 6'3 185, he'll need to build up another 15 lbs if he wants any chance in the NFL. He's fast but not super hast his hands are not NFL level as he dropped some easy passes in college. He is a project.

Performance: F
Potential: F
Overall F

Unit Analysis: Smart drafting over the past 3 years has turned this unit from so-so to among the NFLs best and most of the starters are 26 or under. There is a lot of speed and a lot of playmaking ability. Health permitting there is possibly 3000-3500 yards split amongst the top 3 guys and the reserves offer plenty of different looks. This an explosive unit that will frustrate a lot of defenses.

Unit Grade: A

I would say let this season play out and we can make a judgement on him in the offseason.

He has all the tools and he'll have his ups and down. but like Mahomes he has a good support system so we can stair step his development. With that said the 49ers offense has the potential to be way more vertical.
