Let's take a look at our tight ends.
Tight Ends
George Kittle - Former 2017 5th round pick. George Kittle has established himself as 2nd best tight end in football. He's a dangerous target when he gets the ball hence why he oftens finds himself double if not triple teamed at times. He also is an elite blocker at the position when used in running formations even though he has missed a block or two in motion letting defenders get a beeline to the quarter back on certain plays. The biggest thing for Kittle moving forward is health. He has been banged up the past two seasons and it's going to be extemely important he stays healthy as he's a key component in both the pass and run game. As long as he plays say 13 out of 17 games at least, he should continue his reign of dominance.

Tyler Kroft - Tyler Kroft is a veteran NFL tight end. A former 2015 3rd round draft pick he has amassed about 950 yards receiving and 13 TD. Pretty respectable for a career 2nd TE considering he's lost time to injuries. At 6'6 Kroft is a capable redzone target in dual TE formations and a decent blocker when asked to do so. He provides a veteran presence and will likely slot in as the #2 TE on the team.

Ross Dwelley - Former 2018 UDFA. Ross Dwelley has survived multiple final cuts and has made the roster. While is slot as TE is not guaranteed. He's the only one of the remaining TEs who is at least a respectable receiving threat and while he was not a blocker when drafted, he has developed into a passable blocker. He also is an asset on special teams.

Charlie Woerner - 2020 6th round draft pick. Charlie Woerner is a primarily a blocking TE that can catch the occasional ball. While he comes from some football pedigree, he has not developed much as a receiver and I believe he is mostly a special teams player at this point in his career. I think he will be the final TE that makes the roster but his spot his not guaranteed this year.

Potential: C-
Overall: D+
Jordan Matthews - I think his time in the NFL may be coming to an end. He is injury prone and my guess is the 49ers will likely injury waive him or just stash him and cut him. He's taken catastrophic injuries the past 2 seasons.
Performance: D-
Potential: D-
Overall: D-
Tanner Hudson - While he has some time as a special teams player. I think he will likely be a practice squad emergency player.
Performance: D-
Potentential: D-
Overall: D-
Tony Fumagalli - Despite having NFL size, he's been an oft injured reserve. He's is likely just a camp body.

Unit Analysis:
This unit is as good as George Kittle can stay healthy. The team tried to bring in Jordan Matthews and convert him to Tight End but that was a failure and for whatever reason the 49ers were not aggressive in bringing in a legit #2 though Tyler Kroft can play that role if he can again stay healthy, Dwelley and Weorner can take snaps and play special teams so I think they are most likely in. But if Kittle goes down, it takes out a whole chunk of the playbook.
