I just want all of us to agree we ain't competing for shyt in the next 2 seasons, at the very least.

We basically are taking all the hits imaginable for 2025 and making all the space possible so 2026 fits Brock's contract AND there's enough room to pursue starter caliber free agents.

This roster had enough holes at it was and we now have even more holes than before, it's not gonna be a quick turnaround even if this year's draft is a hit (3-4 legit starters). We gonna need three consecutive good draft classes (24', 25' and 26') and be smart in free agency next year to have a shot at a quick rebuild.

I think there current regime is gone if they don't make the playoffs in 2026. Unless they have one of those weird seasons you see in the NFL once in a while and crazily overachieve this year.

Especially if they pay Brock. Can you imagine a team with Mahomes, Allen or Lamar missing the playoffs two years in a row and the coach keeping their job? They are giving Kyle a pass for last year because the roster was decimated. And this year because they're hitting reset and taking the hit for the bad all in contracts. But 2026 is must win.

I wouldn't hate trading him prior to the draft if they can get a first rounder for him. I like Brock a lot, would take him over dudes like Dak and Cousins any day, but he won't win a championship without an elite roster. And that ain't happening with him taking up 20% of the cap.
It's a huge gamble but my guess is that they are planning to get that elite roster in quick fashion (before Brock's extension expires). Being able to hit so many draft picks and land useful/great free agents is a huge risk but getting rid of Brock and go back to playing QB carousel is just as big of a gamble tbh, good QBs in the NFL are very, very hard to come by these days.

Both Lynch and Kyle are under contract till 2027, my guess is that Jed will give them till that season to be in the playoffs, unless internal fukkery happens like it did with Harbaugh or 2026 is an unmitigated disaster with this current gamble of "draft or bust" failing miserably.

Nah I can't agree with this yet. We have a playoff caliber roster on offense (assuming they pick up a 1-2 OL starters in the draft or FA), and while the defensive depth chart looks shaky we have some blue chip pieces that Saleh could build around and have the defense looking solid if things break the right way. We're in a very weak division right now too. I think we're still contenders.

Division is still winnable and once you’re in the playoffs anything’s possible. Just ditching Sorenson is a massive W.

I think at best we'll have enough to fight for a playoff spot but contend for a SB? come on breh.

We have holes at

LG
C
We hearing offers for Aiyuk, we might need a WR2 (or WR3 depending on what Ricky does this coming season).
RT
DE2
DT1
DT2
LB2
CB3

And this is not even taking depth into account, lol. The division is weak so we can still compete if we get luck injury and are able to get upgrades in 4 of those spots. But a title contender I have no clue how you can project that.

Commanders and Lions were both title contenders with as many if not more holes.

Draft a T with our first round pick, sign Jonathan Allen and Joey Bosa, get 2-3 starters out of the 6 picks we have in round 2-4...we're pretty much back in business. I think we're still probably the best team in the division, and we have enough talent to make a playoff push. I'm not saying we should be SB favorites, but I'm not throwing in the towel on this season yet.

were lucky we in NFC where its super top heavy. Eagles Lions and then maybe commies

so if the core of this team like CMC and Trent can stay healthy and at least at 80% of what they are its possible we can make a run. very unlikely but possible. things have to go our way in a lot of ways. they have to nail the draft too.

if we were in AFC, it would be curtains.

I know it’s a meme but all I’m hearing is how deep this draft is for defensive line lol. Y’all know what time it is. Spam the D line this draft and get us pointed towards building the kind of defense we know and love. I seriously think we should. Give us some affordable depth for a competent DC

draft is deep in:

DL, mostly interior
TE
RB

they have to get off their ass and make good depth picks as well as good "start now" picks. getting a good TE2 could be a godsend. and yeah we'd have to nail at least two DL picks in the draft as well

Those are way too many what ifs for me :hubie: if they somehow happen, great, but I much prefer to have no expectations these next 2 seasons than clinging to small percentage chances of good: FA signings with little cap room + a really good draft class + injury luck.

These last 5 years we were basically hoping for injury luck and that was it (and when we had it, we always went far), FA and draft were gravy, and we whiffed so much we paid the price of not winning a ship when we could've. I've said it before but "win now mode" doesn't last forever, that's why it's called win now:francis:

Well with Myles Garrett off the board. Joey Bosa is the 2nd best pass rusher available. As long as the contract doesn't keep us from adding depth pieces it's not the end of the world.

The other thing is Bosa only costs us money and not picks.

Yup!!!

Sorry my brother @calh45

You gonna have to accept this :lolbron:
