the only reason disney and porn were able to side with blu ray is cuz sony forced the new format on consumers by including it in every PS3 at launch.
sony already had a built in consumer base with the ps3 owners, which made it a simple decision for them to pick which format to support.

don't quote me, cuz I didn't really take a good look. but I believe that was the deal.
costco membership is only $55 for a year. I make that up just on the amount I save on gas alone. that's not even counting liquor, food and all the other various shyt I buy there.
That was AFTER the 360 had launched. If 360 had HD-DVD it would have definitely won that war.

that base wasn't that large to force the decision like that...hd dvd players were out at the time, so people were copping those just like blu rays....I do agree. sony was committed to forcing blu ray on people, but if porn/disney went the other way, sony would've just had to figure something out about what to do with blu rays..
I still doubt it...reason being sony has something ms doesn't: a movie studio...that right there gave them a leg up on ms with the new format....so even if an hd dvd was included with every 360, they would've had to broker deals to get movies in that format...ms likes to spend money, but not like that on something that isn't windows and/or guaranteed a return...

the PS3 base was MUUUCCHHH larger than the standalone blu-ray base or the HD-DVD base. hell, I remember when PS3 first launched, standalone bluray players were damn near the same cost as the PS3 except it didn't play video games or have internet capabilities
I have NEVER EVER known or seen anyone in person with either the HD-DVD standalone player or the HD-DVD add-on for xbox 360.
u can say PS3 didn't have big sales then, but at the time, it was by far the top selling "next gen" optical disc player.
i'm not on anyone's side and don't have time for videogames...but the ps4 fanboys are becoming incredibly annoying and childish
but I was also annoyed with the xbots back in 2006 when the playstation 3 was flopping and didn't become a good system until around 2008-2009

Kinect looked like a cool concept, but once people actually used and seen that is was nothing like it was portrayed they threw in the bushes, and stupid microsoft decides to put it with every console, can't they see nobody like that sh1t?

that's true about standalone blu ray players costing a lot, but those stand alone hd dvd players and the hd dvd add on weren't as much...
people copped those players, but the signs started pointing to blu ray...cause even though you're right, the ps3 was the top selling blu ray player at that time, the main reason it went over with people was cause sony had the ace in the hole: a movie studio...so they didn't have to go outta house to get blu ray movies, which gave them a real leg up on hd dvd, not the ps3...that shyt was a bonus...
