if it's just crappy library/production music for VH1 shows why not just let it all go at once
even then you should try to get more for that... 100 beats is a lot of time and effort even for bad beats

There is no way in hell anyone is EVER going to pay you "backend writer's share" royalties when they've gotten 100 beats out of you for $1,750... :deadrose:

If they know you're stupid enough to sell basically an entire catalog of music for less then $2,000 then they know they can tell you whatever you want & sneak in some shoddy wording in whatever contract they offer you & never have to worry about paying you another cent...

You gotta be smarter then this fam... :whew:

There's a famous saying used in the Entertainment Business everyday & it goes "There's a sucker born every minute."
from my understanding, all PROs (ASCAP, BMI etc) will only send writer's share checks to the writer; it's difficult to manipulate that. Furthermore, this would be explicitly written in the agreement.

Btw, stop catching feelings, my dude.

That's what the primary focus would be: placements on TV shows. That said, ideally, it'd be fantastic if a licensing opp presented itself from a film studio or video game developer.

Would $5,000 be more appealing then?

I'm was tryna help you... :manny:

There is no way whoever gave you this offer is ever going to get you paid breh... I've seen this scam done several different ways over the years... :lupe:

This is right there with dudes who tell you they will pass your music along to other people in exchange for $$$... :jawalrus:

He's gonna take your beats & move on to the next "idiot" willing to fall for this... :lolbron:

But you're gonna do it anyway... :manny: just wait until you get that first VH1 or MTV placement & find out there's no check because it's a free placement because so many people are willing to PAY to get their music on TV that unless you have some hit records out no TV Network is gonna pay you... this is business... :bryan:

This world is so :demonic:

Idk man it depends how you feel about your music and how much $5,000 matters to you

I'm not being offered this deal. This is simply informal market research for a business plan.

And, for your information, I've been placing music since 2006. And yesterday was distribution day. :takedat: (since you like smileys so much)

I might be wrong but isn't making library music a complete dead end? :patrice:

"build your producer resume" my ass... like getting beats you should've deleted played on Love and Hip Hop for 8 seconds is gonna get you on :rudy:
how could it hurt your résumé? wouldn't you rather have your tracks doing something than just sitting on a harddrive? Obviously, the target market wouldn't be producers who are already well established. And, is it a "dead end?" I don't think so. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Beats don't get cats paid... songs do... & even then shows like that aren't paying out for music that's not on Billboard because too many people are willing to submit their music for free just to have a chance to get it heard on a National Network...

"Jar Of Hearts" premiered on "So You Think You Can Dance" waaaaaaay before Atlantic jumped on the song. She didn't make a dime off of it being on the show but it being on the show allowed her to promote it & it went on to sell over 3 Million copies after Atlantic signed her & used their "Machine" to push it...

It's a lot of smoke & mirrors in the Music Business & cats forget at the end of the day it's BUSINESS...

You know how many "beatmakers" that were hot just a few years ago are lying to people about how much they get paid per track just to keep up their image? These dudes are broke because all they do is make beats when the real money is in the songwriting or producing the actual record...

And rap beatmakers are the worse because they lie & say they sell beats for XX,XXX amount of money & cats don't realize that person only has FREE PLACEMENTS on FREE MIXTAPES... which there is no money in...

That's why cats like Mike Will & Kane Beatz go Pop... cuz that's where the real money is... & you go from beatmaker to producer... :youngsabo:

:comeon:
better to have a clean slate and a good catalogue that could get you management or a pub deal than a bunch of throwaway beats attached to your name all over wack TV shows
