Personally I enjoyed the speech. I felt as if he took the necessary jabs at GZ, the Sanford Police department, and bigoted folks who act is if race was never factor into the outcome and handling of this case.

A strong point imo, was the scenario he played out if, Trayvon Martin, was and shot in killed GZ in self defense, how differently this case would have played out.

Bill Maher was fairly interesting last night too. The tension between the panel blatantly visible. But my main focus was on this specimen.

She would definitely get some attention.

The speech seems very impromptu, but you can tell his words were chosen very carefully.

However, the cynical part of me thinks he just did it so that he can say he threw us a bone, just a verbal one for a minute, because he knows the DOJ isn't going to charge shyt.

the instigating trolling that I do, with you and many others for kicks and chuckles, aside, I whole heartedly agree with this shyt.

You don't need to be cynical...he definitely did that shyt for this precise reason

i have been a big critic of his race speeches, but this was pretty good. it's all a president should have to say on an issue like this. finally he is not putting the onus squarely on black people to do something. he is still handling white people with kid gloves, but quite frankly, the average white person can barely handle being told that racism exists, let alone that they may have some part in it, so i think obama said enough. there is really not much poltiical upside to his speech, and a whole lot of downside with cacs going wild over it.

:salute:to Obama for what he said. I whole heatedly agree with everything he said and felt it was genuine. I am looking at the comment sections of many sites and see that many people did not even care to truly listen to what he said. There is no way for white people to be able to look at this case from the perspective of a black person but the fact that most from the start thought and felt a certain way about Trayvon is the problem. Most other races look at black males in a negative way from the jump. What Obama stated needed to be said imo. One other thing I am reading is that people think Obama is just fueling the fire, but this needs to be brought up and discussed. We should not just move on and be like well the jury made their decision so that's it. There are still fundamental problems in America as it relates to race, and although we have come a long way, we still have much farther to go.

I loved the fact that he did it without a teleprompter. I'm sure he had the bullet points in his mind of what he wanted to say but you could tell a lot of it was straight from the heart. This speech most likely will not lead to any real change in terms of law or the like but it is nice to see racism brought to the forefront. Whites have been trying to say "it's in the past" for far too long. It's as real as ever.

Thing of is. America is only 2-3 generations removed from the civil rights era.Tensions in America weren't automatically smoothed at the conclusion of the 1960s. Many people who were around during that time period are still alive today. Their influences, beliefs, prejudice behavior were most likely handed down to their children.Stealth racism, such as redlining and employment discrimination have never stopped. Instead these practices have essentially taken a hidden face.

I just wonder why it took him a whole week to say that :ld:

Does it matter that it took him a week to say something or that he said something at all when conservatives and whites in general were going to lambast him for anything he said?

You and tavis smiley I swear are such c00ns. Just give the president support and shut the fukk up.

How the fukk is this a smart decision? He didn't have to do anything for the black community. He is not getting elected again. Right now conservatives are calling him a racist and accusing him of diving this country. In no way can you spin what Obama said as anything politically savvy. Jesus Christ some of you are dumb as rocks.

I don't know who the hell you are, but you're surely an an uptight negro to label me a fukking

c00n, just because I said it took Obama a whole week to voice such a poignant statement as to

why Trayvon's unjust murder and bullshyt verdict have our community once again in dire straits:pacspit:
