It was a good and earnest statement from the President. It needed to be said.

The cynical part of me has doubts about timing but since they are unsubstantiated, I'll just let them be for now.

You think this man cares? All the other bigger problems we have going on that Obama has ignored or helped to create, you think he will stop and focus on this? You can tell he is all words. We have watched since his presidency...deaths from the continuous Fast & Furious scandal, bankrupt of major cities, more government intrusion and spying, the massacre of Black Libyans and the continuous genocide in Syria, GMO foods in everything which he allows, massive crackdown on dissent( supporters of Obama or not), etc. He job isn't to help the people out by getting us together but to divide us while we only stick together on trusting government.

He won't however make a speech on why Guantanamo is still open with many innocent people still there.
And they know, this is fact, that they are innocent but they said it has a lot of political consequences to just let them go.

He won't talk about what he's doing in the middle east.

He won't talk about the bankers not going to jail after the fraud they commited.

But he WILL make a long speech about something where HE is not under the microscope but two other people are.
And they will try to add as much more spotlight to this as possible so people talk about Zimmerman and everyone forgets about NSA spying!

Yeah, I'm trying to let this be, but the standing of Blacks in America under Obama gives me every reason in the world to be cynical about this. I agree that this needed to be said, though.

Personally I enjoyed the speech. I felt as if he took the necessary jabs at GZ, the Sanford Police department, and bigoted folks who act is if race was never factor into the outcome and handling of this case.

A strong point imo, was the scenario he played out if, Trayvon Martin, was and shot in killed GZ in self defense, how differently this case would have played out.

Bill Maher was fairly interesting last night too. The tension between the panel blatantly visible. But my main focus was on this specimen.
