Can Chris Christie Rubio Trump?

He can't. Trump has no shame, a gigantic ego, and isn't afraid to punch down. DeSantis on the other hand, if Trump doesn't take him out Christie will.

isn't it like, really bad that trump is only getting 50 percent in all these polls? :dead:

of course hes beating the field, but only half of republican voters want him? im sure most will fall in line, but that doesnt seem like much of a base to carry into a general

especially because a quarter of republicans are openly admitting that trump is a loser. they're not gonna be happy with him for refusing to step down

Having a large amount of candidates split the field is how he won the primary in 2016 to begin with.

It’s not like a conviction in either case removes him from the ballot. We literally watched dude shoot from a plurality to a majority after losing a civil trial and 2 indictments. These things clearly mean nothing to the Republican primary electorate.

Cultish groups like the GOP always circle wagons when they've been convinced one of their own has been "attacked." Trump was "smart" in beating the "when they attack me, they're attacking you" message into their brains. Whether he's able to maintain that for the next year or so is a different question.

If Trump dies I doubt Desantis can get the nomination even then
His favorability is as bad as his polling now
He has so firmly shifted himself away from an establishment republican candidate that now his voter base is made up of a bunch of fringe trumpist people

All the runner ups could literally consolidate their bases behind whoever and he'd lose
That's why you have so many people entering the race the reality that sans trump the race is basically a toss up is spurring this movement

Trump, Pence, Haley and Christie are going attack him in debates over Disney.

The problem is that many of their voters have moved beyond the old school days when they were apologists/worshippers of big business.

Anytime you have all candidates attacking one, all it does is sort of reinforce the idea that he is strong. I think it could be effective if they do it to suggest he's an unlikable a$$hole who won't be able to get anything done or beat Biden.

But if they frame it as "he's bad because he attacked Disney" it's going to help him bc it gives him an opportunity to filibuster by talking about how he's singlehandedly fighting woke corporations that get billions in tax credits etc and that the other candidates are acting as Disney's mouthpieces.

If Trump is against it, which based on previous comments he seem to be, then the Republicans will be against it. Trump sets the rules.

Tim Scott would make light work of him. He has personality and actually knows how to go on non friendly platforms to debate ideas

Mike Pence would also embarrass him in that regard
You can't be so blind to the alt right echo chamber you inhabit to see how unpopular he's become. Trump has literally solidified his lead behind Desantis' waning popularity

All the other candidates have seen gains in polling as well behind his dips

Only a moron would say that Desantis could beat anyone at this point considering all his missteps since the midterms.

The Republican Party is too racist for Tim to be a serious nominee. The only reason he has a shot at making it to Super Tuesday is because he has a shytload of money stacked up in fundraising.

Tim is too soft to go after DeSantis anyway.

politics is all vibes based now
people will throw out their ideologies and get behind someone they don't like to get their side a W

You see this everyday in the media
That's why Desantis is losing to Trump. He cannot pass the vibe check around Trump and he likely can't pass it behind Tim Scott, Mike Pence, or even Cristie

Look at how RFK Jr has become a darling among the right wing media landscape. Desantis will never get that vibe either he is too much of an outsider

Right now Chris Cristie is passing the vibe check because the media loves to air his anti trump attacks but you see the opposite with Desantis

All this shows that there is a huge maga fringe but the same can be said about the establishment side. Desantis has not shown me he can beat an establishment republican
