Along with what others have said, I do believe that a guy would have to be at least Rock level to get that belt. You can argue whether Rock is black or not but to Vince, I think he wants a black wrestler to have Rock-like charisma and be good enough in the ring. Then on top of that with what Vince likes (being 6'5, 260), that is usually not a breh in wrestling, he would be in the NFL or being that tall or taller, in the NBA. It's unfair obviously but this is the unfortunate world we live in.

I'll say MVP and Mark Henry had the package to be WWE champ in my mind...it's some real bullshyt Mark didn't get it

If it weren't for Lashley's MMA interests and Kristal Marshall, he def would have been a multi-time champ. Vince loved him, he had the look, and could actually wrestle. I've always mentioned that he wasn't good on the mic, but Brock wasn't either during all that time. Right now though, Lashley is the total package, and I wish he would have already been back the last couple of years. He could bring that same legitimacy that Lesnar brings.

Current Lashley is much better than current Lesnar right now.

Also just to add to the OP, I'm sure out of the entire writing staff (NXT included), there's probably no more than 3 black writers, and I'm being generous. All old dusty out of touch white people know about black folks is their perception of what a black person is. Take a look at those racist college parties (to which the old dusty white folks have passed their ideas down to), their perception of black people is some 2003 variant G-Unit/St. Lunatic member. Have to get black writers in there from the ground up, who are actually in tune with who we are.

With other races you can be bums(bray Wyatt, Ambrose), boring(ADR, JBL), all types of sh!t & still get a reign as wwe champ.

A nikka could be grinding year in & year out & we still can't get a look.

I've been watching the Attitude Era. He was absolutely being pushed. They even made him and Shawn a power trip tag team.

There's no doubt in my mind he would have won it if everything worked out like it was going to.
