Texas I'd say is it's own thing. Florida is also another state like that. As is Kentucky and Oklahoma.

EDIT: It's southern by geography, but not really by culture on aggregate.

It seems like Northern Florida and Eastern Kentucky are as Southern as it gets, with the rest of the state being more questionable

You're really insinuating that North Carolina doesn't have a "southern state of mind"? I wanna hear you break this down, I live in Raleigh and previously lived in both Charlotte and Fayetteville. I've been all around North Carolina, I gotta hear this...

While admittedly I've never been to those cities, I've known a pretty good number of black folk from Austin and San Antonio...

You'd be making a strange argument to say blacks in SA and Austin aren't southern...

No region is monolithic, this is a really narrow definition of both the South and the West...

I never said Texas doesnt have southern people, i said its not the south. You admittedly not from here so just take my word for it

San Antonio is definitely Southern. We out in this bytch throwing BBQ's in December
A few southern traits =/= the south

:mjlol:

if you from San Antonio you cannot claim to be from "The South"
:mjlol:

Whole thread full of weird responses. Texas aint the south, the south is the south. Texas is Texas.

Ive lived in actual Southern States and I currently live in Dallas. People here dont claim "The South" people here dont day "Im from the South" like they do in Tennessee and Georgia.

People in texas say "Im from Texas, period"

Yall really dont know what yall are talking about and it shows.

Coli full of New Yorkers debating if Texas is the South when the furthest south they been is Jersey :deadmanny:

So I guess all the New Yorkers roaming across VA, NC, SC, GA and FL are just a bunch of southerners pretending to be New Yorkers then?

:mjlol:

In reality New Yorkers leave their state moreso than you think.

1. New York Lawst

2. I've lived in Texas for almost a decade, i have NEVER heard one person claim it to be the South. No one says, "We are southern" No one says "We are from the South"
This is shyt I heard almost daily in Tennessee and to a lesser extent even in North Carolina (which is far less southern than Tennessee)

Texas is Texas. Texans for the most part dont consider themselves part of the South so its strange that New Yorkers do.

Dallas and Austin don't feel near as southern as Durham.

Once again, if you aint lived here you just guessing breh, it is what it is :yeshrug:

If San Antonio aint the South than what the fukk is it? :gucci:

It's damn sure not the West Coast and it's certainly not the Midwest. It's not the South cause it's a majority Hispanic city?:dwillhuh:

Texas is so far fukking South, the slaves down here were the last to find out about emancipation for fukk's sake:why:

shyt the Confederate flag is one of the 6 flags of Texas :what:

Its Texas breh:dwillhuh:
Its just Texas.

Texas has always acted alone (or tried to), outside of southern solidarity. Texas is its own independent thing,
If you claiming San Antonio I don't see you as a southerner, I see you as a Texan.

Breh I barely even hear deep southern accents in Texas at all. I usually gotta go to TN for that.

Confederate flag is your best argument tho... cacs never letting that shyt go :francis:
