I never said Texas doesnt have southern people, i said its not the south. You admittedly not from here so just take my word for it

Take your own advice and exit that way-------->>>>>. A San Antonian is in the thread telling you they consider SA the South and you debating him on it, goofy...

You either lying or completely sheltered if you spent a decade in Texas and never heard a Texan call Texas the South....

I have been to Dallas, it's like 8½ times larger than Durham, so with that comes a different level of sophistication and worldliness. It is also within a geographically different part of the US, so that influences its culture differently---->bit Dallas is for sure southern and in the South...

The South isn't any more monolithic than any other region, there's nuance and context with everything...

Its Texas breh:dwillhuh:
Its just Texas.

Texas has always acted alone (or tried to), outside of southern solidarity. Texas is its own independent thing,
If you claiming San Antonio I don't see you as a southerner, I see you as a Texan.

Breh I barely even hear deep southern accents in Texas at all. I usually gotta go to TN for that.

Confederate flag is your best argument tho... cacs never letting that shyt go :francis:
You not in Dallas then. You in Denton or Collin County

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
1. New York Lawst

2. I've lived in Texas for almost a decade, i have NEVER heard one person claim it to be the South. No one says, "We are southern" No one says "We are from the South"
This is shyt I heard almost daily in Tennessee and to a lesser extent even in North Carolina (which is far less southern than Tennessee)

Texas is Texas. Texans for the most part dont consider themselves part of the South so its strange that New Yorkers do.

Dallas and Austin don't feel near as southern as Durham.

Once again, if you aint lived here you just guessing breh, it is what it is :yeshrug:

1.) Texas Lawst.

2.) Everyone knows about Texas pride.

3.) There are also some double standards in your post. You got guys like Bun B who reps Texas who claims the south all day. Your boy Pimp C was the main one telling people that “Atlanta” is not southern.

Find it strange that a proud Texan like himself who doesn’t “rep” the south is telling another city in the south that they aren’t southern.

Bun B also had no problem joining this track that paid homage to the south.

Ironically he the first person in the track saying “I love being from the dirty south mane”

Lol

@Gold and for the record you do not need to live in the south to speak about the south. If we talking geographically. It’s not like we talking about your individual neighborhood or something.

The South is part of America. Some of you guys down there make it seem like The South is another country.

:heh:

NeverMind the fact that Southern History makes up most of American history in our text books at school.

To answer the question... Yes Texas is southern TECHNICALLY. I been all over though, there are differences between the part of Texas where black people live(DFW, Houston, and East Texas) and other southern areas. Houston is more southern than Dallas(hence the more laid back atmosphere and slower pace of things), but neither are that Southern.

Pretty hypocritical since he’s telling people that they are guessing if they don’t live down there.

You're really insinuating that North Carolina doesn't have a "southern state of mind"? I wanna hear you break this down, I live in Raleigh and previously lived in both Charlotte and Fayetteville. I've been all around North Carolina, I gotta hear this...

While admittedly I've never been to those cities, I've known a pretty good number of black folk from Austin and San Antonio...

You'd be making a strange argument to say blacks in SA and Austin aren't southern...

No region is monolithic, this is a really narrow definition of both the South and the West...
Breh chill im in Raleigh too bull city born and raised. There is a clear cut difference between being southern and from the south

There are some aspects of Texan culture that are kind of unique to Texas and not to the general south.

Example: Texas cuisine has been influenced heavily by it's old Mexican roots and border hence the term "Tex-Mex". There's the cowboy culture as well which unique to the Great Plans and the Desert West states, and, Texas. Cowboy culture isn't as prevalent in the typical "South".

I can see why people consider Texas as southern by location, but not really by culture. I think you could say the same thing about Florida, Kentucky and Oklahoma (except I don't think a lot of people consider OK as "the South")

Oklahoma might be a plains state, but they are considered a Southern state by many. They have pretty strong Southern sounding accents
