They mostly want the confirmation bias after being bullied all last gen about day one pc ports on xbox. Its why everytime sony announces a port or plans to port more games they make a thread as if Sony is inching closer and closer to doing what Xbox is doing, although that still has not come to fruition.

The persecution complex runs deep for xbox stans. Almost everything they do and celebrate is because of how battered they were last gen.

At the end of the day, Sony is doing it better. They are still building the demand for their central platform and releasing late ports to clean up any extra sales from the PC- Only crowd and double dippers. It’s a strategy that works and i bet microsoft would do if it they hadn’t already committed to day one releases.

That's a terrible article.
The second revenue play here is the eternal debate over Xbox Game Pass, and whether that’s a sustainable way to keep making enormous AAA games. Again, here Microsoft has committed to day one launches of exclusives on Game Pass. But that means game sales are…what, exactly? We never actually know.
So by the writer's own admission they don't know what results are being produced yet they're suggesting it's an inferior business model? This is like me walking up to your house and taking a look at the outside of it and judging your net worth, income, and how you're living based off that. That's simply not enough info to make that judgment.

If you don't know the results of how a game impacts that service and the company's gaming revenue how can you really offer a critique of the business model?
More generally, we may be seeing the overall worm turn against other high profile subscription services. Netflix finally seems to have peaked in the face of increased competition and bloated budgets for original productions. That’s led to stock crashes and layoffs. No, the two situations are not equivalent exactly.
Netflix reached market saturation in their primary business market the United States. They also face many similar services at the same time. If Xbox Game Pass starts facing the issues Netflix has then that means they've already won because the market itself has shifted to their business model. As of the moment Xbox Game Pass has no noteworthy competition because nobody else has so wholeheartedly embraced this model and unlike Netflix most of Xbox competitors can't afford to embrace it the same way. Lastly Netflix is severely hampered by account sharing. Due to the ubiquitous level of how their service can be used that's a major issue.

PC players aren't in a rush.

It's a big L for Sony Stans, in one thread it's about "exclusivity" and their reason for owning the system. But in another thread it doesn't matter.
There's no set schedule for when these games will get ported to PC. It could take two years, it could take five or ten. That's enough FOMO for someone who really wants to play them to simply buy a PS5. The waiting for it to come to Steam at full price schtick is fun for console war bait, but the average gamer would simply take advantage of the many PS5 bundles and deals and just get one, along with a PS Plus subscription that allows them to play the entire PS back catalog all at once

It's not that it doesn't matter its the game is old now and sold through what it was going to sell. I believe it's even free on the extra tier by now.

What's the argument here? If only you wait years you can gain access to older titles you couldn't unless you had a PlayStation before? Congratulations I guess? Is that a win? I don't see it as one.

This isn't like you skipped the theater and 6-7 months later it came to Max at no extra charge. This is like you skipped the theater and 24 months later you paid full price to see the movie. If you wanted to see it why wait that long just to overpay?
