Liked the movie. Didn’t like the ending.

if I wouldn’t have know it was Jamie foxx I couldn’t have guessed it.

the accountant terry was a dumbass and I see why everybody talked to him the way they did lol

Nice movie. Had me falling off my couch laughing

Mohamed Ali "You are the greatest... pain in the ass!:mjlol:
And when 22 was throwing Knicks players out of the zone, I almost choked on my food. :russ::russ:

This movie felt like a 7 out of 10 tho due to the ending. I understand where @Ziggiy is coming from
I felt that the ending left much to be desired. I was REALLY hoping this movie had a secret ending after the credits:francis:

Because I know that this man didn't die, come back to life, die again, come back to life, give his life up for 22 and die again, just to come back to life so he can smell the roses and enjoy the journey. :unimpressed:
You didn't have that emotional ass talk wit your mom so you can keep doing what you were doing but enjoy it this time:comeon:
I was really hoping to see him either in class teaching his students Jazz (because that's his calling) or in a big theatre performing in front of thousands.
The ending felt shallow and I got no closure, so it's a 7/10 for me.:hubie:

At some point there needs to be a conversation about how this is precisely the kind of ingrained social pressure the film is warning us about.

People watch this film and they feel let down because they do not see where Joe ends up. We as a people are taught to judge a person by his achievements. Joe either needs to add value to society as a teacher or Joe must become widely acknowledged for his piano skills.

Both these things however reduce playing piano to a means, not the end. And Joe could quite possible lose his joy of playing piano if he did it only as a means to an end, rather than do it for the joy of playing. Joe was losing sight of that and might have become a lost soul who would get stuck brainlessly playing piano as a job (whether as a teacher or as part of the band) if he didn't realize there's more to life than that. For instance, enjoying something as simple as everyday conversation with his barber.

opening up Royal Dansk tins with a sewing kit was disappointing, but not as disappointing as opening it to find no "pretzel" cookies, which were just shaped that way and in reality as shytty as the rest of em. god forbid there were no cookies with the crystalized sugar on top. might as well eat the needle and thread
