Unless Melo gets hurt/sits out this team won't lose enough games to tank enough to be worth it. While you're right, it's about the lack of talent that dictates when a team should tank, the Knicks are very much in the middle of the road with Amar'e, Melo, Calderon, and JR Smith as it's best offensive players.

The Knicks are losing games because of talent, but they're also losing games because they're trying to get acclimated to the system, the coach, and the new players we have. With all of those obstacles, the Knicks are only losing by a point differential of 4. Lakers, T-Wolves and (especially) the 76'ers are losing by more than double that, and one of those teams is actually trying to win games. I'd like to see if the Knicks can look like end of 2013-4 season by at least the end of next month before giving up completely on them. We finally got a key cog in Calderon who will be here next year. I expect Melo, and JR to be here next year, and Shumpert as well if he can get back to the good play he established for most of the month. That's enough of a base to build a great team around next year (hopefully with the addition of Marc Gasol and 1 more key signing).
thank you
Apparently, half of us support the idea. My vote is to play hard and learn or :russcamby:
exactly . If we gonna suck we gonna suck but I don't cosign tanking ( in nfl it is different where tanking guarantees that number 1 pick )

Wait...so as a fan of a team...your belief is that if it looks like you won't win the title in November, that you should lose as many games as possible?

I'd rather my team be constructed to win through ALL means possible. Not just by losing games...that's just me though.

This is the way the NBA is now. There are legit like 4 teams capable of winning a title this year.

So to understand we should give up on the season now? Is that what people are advocating ? :patrice:

No they're asking you to look at the big picture..Competing for the last playoff spot is not gonna do anything for the long term benefit of the franchise..

This is a bad team and there are no saviors available in free agency..best case scenario you get a Gasol or Rondo neither of those players will make you a contender..

But if you get a high pick and get a great young player or at the very least use it as an asset like when the Celtics got Ray Allen now you're going somewhere

It's unfortunate that the league is like this(well, depending on how you look at it) but I'm looking for sustainable success here...and not just chasing the dragon.

No way in hell the Pelicans let Davis leave
They don't own that man. He will make his own decision. His squad is garbage. The N.O. market is small-time.

Roc Nation probably will put him onto game.

NBA has always been like that..it's about having that one all time great player and an all star sidekick or two

The other sports are much better for fans because they'res always hope u can come out of nowhere to win or compete for a title in the nba you know unless you have one of a small handful of players you literally have almost no shot to win a title

It all depends on the situation....there are a bunch of bad teams in big markets currently.
