Biggest issue, aside from more extremist elements migrating to Afghanistan, is that the Taliban is actually in talks with Russia and China to legitimize their 'government'.

This is gon' get UGLY.
This is all Trump's fault, he was having meetings with the taliban and offering them nukes and shyt :mjlol:

that mf'er did so many stupid things, people just forget

RNC deletes webpage celebrating Trump’s deal with Taliban

The RNC deleted a webpage hailing Trump's Taliban deal as fighters swept Afghanistan, but says it was part of routine web maintenance

Most of them will be fine under whatever group is ruling. They just thought it was a free ticket to America. But the media's sheep is going to believe it was a fall of Saigon situation.

I have no doubt some are genuinely scared, especially the ones who worked as translators etc

But good number of that crowd was likely attracted by rumours of a free flight to the West with no visa. That’d cause a stampede in 99 percent of poor countries in the world, even ones in relative safety.

Yup, and again that falls on america, uk, canada etc. for not getting them out. I'm sure many there were translators or helped out the west.

And yep that would be like world war z

Facts.

But this is where China might get things right as the next super power. They don't give a fukk about democracy or morals. They care about money and making themselves THE production capital of the world. If they go to Afghanistan, it's to make sure they make money or take land. They won't do it through war, they'll do it through flimsy legal institutions and promise of infrastructural investments at no political cost. You want to rape little kids? go ahead. Just get the fukk out of our way as we build a road through you and Pakistan and let us use our people to build it.

This is why China keeps talking about flexing its "soft power" rather than "hard power".

Lots of ignorant hot takes in here.

A lot of y’all sound like cacs when they are talking about African nations. Reminds me of when Trump was calling African nations, shyt hole nations.
:mjpls:

We never should have been over there in the first place, but I feel bad for those people. The Taliban is about to take that ish right back to where it was pre 9/11.

This was a proxy war for the US. Soon as the government saw there were no weapons of mass destruction there and couldn’t find Bin Laden in the mountains they should have started drawing back on ground troops and stuck strictly to air strikes probably towards the end of the first W. Bush term.

As long as the US is heavily dependent on oil and other natural resources it will have interest in the Middle East.

routes to the arabian sea and Mediterranean would disagree. china is trying to build a new silk road and already has an agreement with Pakistan (CPEC). they weren't fukking with Afghanistan cause the Americans were there. Now they can look to consolidate even more power in the region through concentrated infrastructure projects

Say what? Its estimated that theTaliban make over 1 billion a year selling opium, raw minerals and oil. And until this week was making that money without even controlling the country.

Afganistan has over 1400 mineral fields for iron ore, copper, gold, chromite, coal and etc.

Why you think britain, russia and the US been colonizing and meddling in this country for darn near 200 years? They certainly ain't doing it for the hell of it. At one time afganistan was one of Britain's prime possessions.

Also afganistan has always been a strategic location because it is a gateway to the gulf and a straight B line to Russia. So that's is one of the reasons besides raw materials it has been a hot spot for 2 centuries between Britain, Russia and US.

Afghanistan has been considered the grave yard of empires. Not because it is hard to conquer. It's because it is difficult to control. One because their population are harden fighters who have fought all invaders for centuries. Two because the country is large and rocky. The locals can use guerilla warfare due to the terrain which gives them an upper hand on their invaders superior technology.

So basically they can say over the last 200 years they defect or outlasted britain, russia and the US. The most powerful empires of the last 200 years.
