Byproduct of widespread advances in communication/ social media mean that people everywhere in the world get a window into what day to day life looks like in wealthier countries, and particularly in West. It’s part of the migration pull in poor countries. The idea you can have opportunities and ability to make a living for yourself and family is powerful draw, and same reason people risk journeys across Sahara and the Med.
