:damn: I have had some folks inquire to me to this day about buying some of your beats from the tourneys...if you still got tracks hit me up. Out of ALL the tracks I used to play from the tourneys your got the most praise.
Man that's love homey! Ill shoot you a PM and we can discuss it further

these are all examples of people paying money in hopes of becoming "pop stars"

some folks have no interest in "pop stars" and some artists have no desire to be a "pop star"

yeah, its a smaller group of people. but so what? its called the underground and its always been around. i've been happily listening to underground music for years. i feel thats where the real music is.

Then who the fukk is stopping you? If that's your lane then stay in your lane. But don't act shocked when people don't rock with your band/type of music and expect you to pay to leech off the traffic base they've built up

i'm no leech. some of these blogs aren't really getting traffic. its not worth money to me to get posted on a back alley blog and retweeted by 2 twitterbots. i am a staff writer for allhiphop.com and i seen the business from the outside and the inside. i make music to make friends. and all my friends are people with integrity. they ride for me and i ride for them. and if we can't be friends, why should we even do business?

don't get this twisted though, i am not knocking anyone personally. i simply sent out an email blast and posted some of the responses. i think it is indeed a surprise to many folks who are music listeners with no skin in the game to see what blogs charge behind the back to post music. its no surprise to me. but i am not down with that shyt.

I made a choice I wasn't gonna buy any points from anybody ... anybody with a NAME in hip-hop wont charge you to be on there SITE cause it go against they advertising agreement and site hosting platforms ...

some people are worth parenting up with as advisory capcity // marketing guru... but those are something that have a quantifiable return on investment and are a long term strategy

in telling me how, he basically handed me a list of quotes lol

i said ill just stick to performing and sound bombing.

all part of the game though. can't be mad about it. the smarter move is just do better. fame is always a dice roll anyway you slice it, monied or not. you already know when you make it they will all come around. i'm not trying to make it, i'm just making music and having fun. i've been successful with those goals.

I see there is alot of back and forth going on here but ill just chime in for the sake of it.

I said it once and ill say it again, you have to know someone, sometimes spending money gets you nowhere as well if you dont forge a relationship with the individuals you are spending money with.
One thing i will say is blog posts in general provide very little exposure but it does give a sense of credibility. Ill give you an example, ive been in complez, 2 dope boyz, ego trip, byron crawford, unkut, grandgood, etcc etc, but it was less about getting numbers and more about solidifying a profile and some sort of familiarity. You have to more or less use these blog posts as a profile of who you are and turn that into something bigger,

I took those blog posts and used that to leverage MCs to show them "This is who i am, this is why you should work with me" and it worked. Thats how i built my team of about 6 core MCs. Also, for my next album on top of the kickstarter, i ABSOLUTELY used my relationships to contact managers and rappers directly to get HUGE discounts on verses. I have spent on my own money, 2000 on verses from various cats on my next album (ag da coroner, blaq poet etc) so that when my shyt for street champion drops, people will have NO CHOICE but to fukk with it. my name, plus their names, EVERYONE wins fukkin with me.

Sometimes if you arent hot, you need to get someone who is, do a song with them, put it out and give people a reason to fukk with you. People these days aint gonna fukk with you on general principle, so fukk it, give them a reason. I wear a fukking mask, i was homeless, im a dope fiend but i make good music, thats why epople fukk with me, because people can relate to all of the above (lmao)

Man, i did a fukking porn album, got a real pornstars to be on it, got some big titties on the cover, got her to help me promote it etc and people were interested in that. that bbw album was on over 13 blogs and not one of them i had to pay for coverage
did i buy advertising? ABSOLUTELY. I bought banners on kevin nottingham and unkut, i had to make sure people knew about it and i put some big ass titties to make sure you couldnt deny it (damn my baby kacey got some huge t*ts :noah:)

I then contacted @Walt to write a piece about me because i figured he would be able to personify a sense of story about me, in other words, I had something more than just music for you to believe in, i had fought through the worst life has to offer to get where I am at and it further got people to believe in my story and it personified my music even further.

i dont have 4,000 for vinyl, cds etc, so what did i do? a fukking kickstarter and i have a meeting with more donors today after securing 1k from another donor. it takes money to make money. and if youre serious about this shyt, youre going to spend money and if you dont have it, youll get it one way or another.

People fukk with me heavy now because of that, but even more than that, this all started because i am very close to writer robbie ettelson who is my friend, my brother and biggest champion of my work, but i forged that relationship years before i ever did anything relevant. You want blogs etc to fukk with you, you need to either

spend money
spend money on a feature who people care about
start meeting people
start your own site and post your material on there

dont whine about the love of music, man fukk all that, just make yourself hot, do something crazy, do something people relate to, have astory, do something different. Id like to think with all the views, posts and magazine articles about me, yall would wanna heed my word and listen to me.

@PewPew what happen with young thug manager?

He was doing something he wasnt supposed to and instead of talking to him FIRST, i went and told the person he was doing the thing to because we had known each other long and he was my actual friend. My guy then went and spazzed on Thug's manager, rightfully so, and he called me up after and cussed me out:yeshrug:

That was the same day i was supposed to play the beats for them in the studio and whatever thug picked woulda been on ICFN 3. But I didn't and the rest is history.

Lowkey though my boy is the reason why Thug is hot now. There was an event he was working on called Salute the DJs 2014 earlier this year and my boy called Thug up and convinced him to go because he was thinking about backing out. It was an important event because DJ Nando of the coalition djs just passed so the DJ community was reeling and couldnt take much more heartbreak.

So when thug went out and showed love the DJs instantly started supporting the fukk outta his music and thats how "Stoner" got hot. So @Cole Cash is absolutely right in regards to maintaining good relationships. Because thug went and showed them love they returned the favor and now he's famous.

The funny part is Young Thug, or Jeff as I call him, didnt even smoke when i first met him. He was just a poor kid from the hood who was happy to not have to wake up in the hood anymore. But that lifestyle got to him. Wish him the best:ehh:

im gonna keep it real with you then, if you arent trying to make it, then keep your videos where they are and dont try to gain more exposure, exposure is what youre asking for if you are trying to get your shyt blogged. not trying to make it implies you put your work out, leave it where it is, and if people see it then they see it. its sort of an oxymoron to say "im not tryin to make it" then ask for publicity through other sites. you cant have it both ways friend.
