somehow Montana became an afterthought after Brady passed him.

Mahomes needs to pass Joe Cool first. and he has a long way to go to reach Montana's level IMO.
BEen saying this . mahomes sb stats are ugly
10 tds 8 picks in 5 games.
The talent around him has carried.
People calling him the goat was always a brain dead and prisoner of the moment type takes without actually reflecting on it.
Hes also played in the softest era where qbs are coddled .

Montana in Super Bowls: 4-0, 11 TDs, 0 INTs, 127.8 passer rating in era where rules favored the defense, dealt with NFC with Washington (3 SB wins), NYG (2 SB wins), Chicago (arguable GOAT team in 1985). Super Bowl wins against Dan Marino and John Elway.

Mahomes: 3-2, 10 TDs, 7 INTs, 91.4 passer rating with generous referee assistance, in an era where no other AFC team has won a championship since 2018, ref gifted wins against Jimmy Garaoppolo, Jalen Hurts and Brock Purdy

i'm repeating myself here -

Mahomes lacks elite pocket awareness—he thrives when he has weapons and a solid O-line buying him time. But buying time has limits. Football is a cerebral game, and Mahomes just doesn’t process the game at Brady’s level. He had a shot to beat Brady in the 2018 AFCCG, but the Pats, running on fumes, still figured them out to beat them.

If Mahomes wants to take the next step, he needs to win from the pocket and read defenses pre-snap. Right now, he plays on instinct—it’s still backyard football.

For the Chiefs to stay dominant, they need better weapons and an elite Oline. The way the Eagles wrecked them wasn’t just on the oline—when Mahomes gets rattled, he panics and runs. Brady's Bucs already gave the blueprint—contain him outside the pocket and take away his first read. He’ll make plays with his feet, but that’s not how great QBs evolve. It’s about dissecting defenses and staying poised.

Crazy thing is Brady was just saying that.

This current Chiefs run is over. That aura and fear factor is gone. Chargers will be better in year 2 under Harbaugh.

Baltimore or Buffalo will come out the AFC next year. Chiefs were very fortunate to go to the SuperBowl thus year
I would say less about aura or fear and more about health. They lost Rice early in the season but outside of that I can't remember the last time the Chiefs were missing pieces in January. That particular well has to run dry soon.

And Kelce will be a year older.

Why do you have Peyton Manning over Montana?

at best he can be LeBron status
because this Super Bowl was his Miami Heat Dallas Mavericks total meltdown
Brady got LeBrons longevity argument and Mikes ring argument. Pats gonna have to run it up in his early to mid 30s to have a shot at it. I don’t see him playing anywhere close to as long as Brady

In my opinion, Manning changed the game with his intelligence and overall impact. He was more cerebral and had a greater influence on the way the game was played. If I were building a team, I’d take Manning over Montana. But if I needed to win one big game, I’d go with Montana because I'm getting a gamer. Manning is a player and a coach and his flaw gets a bit exposed against fast D due to his lack of arm strength and him not throwing tight spirals.

It’s a close call, but I believe Manning was more dominant when all things are equal. Montana’s perfect Super Bowl record is impressive, but at the end of the day, football is a team sport. It's a splitting hair Imo. If Manning never had so so moments in big games, he wouldve gave brady run for his money in GOAT debate even with much fewer rings. Too bad he was bad in many of those games.
