imma say this,. and i dont care if i get shyt for it..

but as someone who struggles with depression, manic depression.. ive gone years and years wanting to kill myself.. but i don't because i dont want to hurt my mother.. but id be lying if i didn't feel really alone at times and like i have no where to turn and i feel like she doesn't doesnt give a fukk about my feelings, so why should i care? yes, its selfish but when your in that mental state you just want to end your suffering.

this clearly has more to do with his mental state, than it does with his belief in god. he probably continued to keep faith in god, until ultimately he lost faith and felt alone and that pushed him over the edge.

calling people who struggle with depression "weak" minded shows your inability to understand how severe depression can affect someone.

We don't know if it was depression that made him do this. It could have been anything. Depression is real. But is also treatable. You can work through depression. But to kill yourself when you KNOW you have a wife and children who rely on you...That's some weak ass shyt. No matter if it is depression related or not. As a man, (ESPECIALLY A BLACK MAN) you have certain responsibilities whether you want them or not. And protecting your family and raising your kids is one of them. You can be depressed, you can cry, you can be angry, but don't leave your kids fatherless. Especially when you take your own life. Live for them at least.

I think there are illnesses that aren't well understood that can affect mood and mental/cognitive ability...but general depression and malaise? I'm not so certain.

The DSM seems to be largely bullshyt when it comes to a lot of things in my eyes...but this is another topic.

But I don't really see how ths changes anything.

Christians came in here saying dude had a mental illness...as if MAYBE god was possibly ignoring dude.

Theres no room for that sort of thinking in a christians mind, cause technically god exists AND ain't helping buddy out.

Then for the same dudes to act like he was unreasonable for asking god to talk to him...well isn't that what your entire religion is based on?

I understand completely, but at the same time... if you struggle with depression and dont have a supportive family (emotionally) it can really tear you apart and eat you up inside where you question your importance to them, ya know?

For instance, i hardly ever talk to my sister cause she has her own life and family.. But sometimes I'll call her up to talk and just shoot the shyt and she NEVER returns my calls. but shell call my phone to try and get a hold of my mom. Or like 2 weeks ago I was at a football game for my nephew and I said hi to my other nephew.. hes 5. and he just looked at me and ignored me.. i immediately thought "why am I really that much of an unlikeable person even a 5 year old doesn't like me?" little stuff like that when you suffer from depression can really fukk with you and make you question yourself and your existence.
