RIP.
I guess he was going through something pretty heavy. He's a real person, not a robot. The problem wasn't that God wasn't hearing his prayers, it's that he wasn't willing to share his problem with a close brother who could help lift him up. We are not made to fight through struggles by ourselves. Pastors do not need to pretend they are perfect. And unfortunately, I think that this had to do with him trying to keep his "exterior appearance" up as the lead pastor of a church and did not want to appear vunerable or as one with a problem. He didn't have a wing man, I'm talking a real breh he could share the truth and keep it 100. Who knows, money problems, marital problems, whatever. It was enough to make him want to stop it with suicide.
Just from my cop training, people who want to commit suicide don't really want to die, they want to stop the pain or problem they are going through, and they don't know how else to stop it. I didn't get training with getting suicide prevention negotiation skills though.
