The problem is with it not being federally mandated then there's no bare minimum so it wildly ranges. Most good companies will give you 3+ months but then you have companies who just give 3 weeks

My girl got 3 weeks paid and I got 6 paid. She ended up getting 3 months of paid fmla due to complications and her school admin fukking up. 3 months of straight up mat/pat would have been a dream though.

would those "good" companies do the extra if there was a mandate is another consideration. Some companies like to be competitive with compensation packages, but if they had to pay everybody for months of times off then maybe they just stick to the minimum. People forget to think about cause and effect.
