Paid maternity leave will never happen in this country like Euro, Asian countries because of racism???

I agree there is a strong racial issue at play because the right wing/conservatives will see any social welfare as trying to help black people it was reagan who went on a racist tirade about welfare queens, there is strong support in the public for it , it has been enact on certain blue states with a liberal governor , on the national level the issue is the republican oppose it .

Your pastor was probably talking about universal healthcare, not paid paternity leave. And if so he's probably right.
So the context was we had a group discussion on the breakdown of the family. Which began with the industrial revolution. Fathers leaving home for work. And now with American culture we put in more hours of work then most countries. That led to we're so obsessed with work that we won't even give women paid paternity. That's when he gave theory as to why

It won't happen because it will be an additional tax on employees and many people don't want that additional tax.

In New York state I pay 15 dollars per paycheck in tax for NY Paid Family Leave.

we pay more for healthcare per person than any other country, get less for it and still have 30+ million people uninsured.

My girl got paid maternity leave and I got paid paternity leave. We both work for a municipality though. Is it private industries that don’t offer it?

O wow we get paid Statutory Maternity Pay for 39 weeks 😳

And if your job is excellent like mine was, you can get assistance for up to 52 weeks
Not sure how long Paternity Leave is let me check

Brb

Oh ok it's only 2 weeks
Getting paid 90% of ya cheque for 2 weeks ain't bad tho

I gotcha.

My fault for assuming since I usually hear that argument with regards to universal healthcare but I do hear what the good brother saying there ✊🏿.

They so worried about us getting something

Meanwhile they create fake shares out of nowhere that fukks up everything and get away with it, back when shares were black people they even bred Irish women with Black slaves to create more wealth and to benefit from 3/5ths compromise

Damn what states yall in? We have paid maternity/paternity leave here. Just had the whole summer off.

Maternity and Paternity leave should be federally mandated, not left up to the employer. Most employees in the states do not have maternity leave. Not sure why y’all don’t realize this.

:whoa:
I guess I’ve only worked in places that have guaranteed paid mat/pat leave, even the one private company I worked for had it. I definitely agree that it should be mandated across the board, but I am curious which industries and places don’t have it.

OP, the main reason we don't have ish in this country is because fools don't know ish and don't give a damn to figure it out. there are laws providing for maternity and paternity leave in this country already and then some employers do extra where yuo can get paid. I'm pretty sure my employer does extra cuz they have benefits for child care and freezing your eggs and whatnot, i never thought about being preggo so i never looked into how long maternity leave would be. but one thing about it, i have already taken like 3 months worth of leave this year under our general PTO scheme lol. when you can do that who needs maternity leave :yeshrug:
