I don't think it really matters whether Pac was officially with the set or not, he went up to Orlando Anderson, allegedly asked him if he was a Southside Crip, then he and some Pirus pummeled Lane.

If Keefe D's story is true, then Southside Crips likely would have gotten him sooner or later, but Pac put himself in a gang beef.

Leading a jumping of a rival gang member isn't merely "hanging around Bloods", it's actively participating in the beef. It's semantics whether or not he was repping/claiming a set or an "official" member, he was acting like he was a member and it most likely resulted in his death.
