You're going to be called a c00n for saying that :francis:
He shouldn't be called that for the truth were not dumb people, but we don't take education serious as a collective.

We rely on the fantasy of our kids being sports stars and entertainers to get us out the "hood".

Might be boring professions for some but Dr, Nurse , and Computer Scientist etc can get you out quicker but that takes taken education seriously.

But when we focus we are the top %

look at those that did make it in sports and entertainment

we can do the same for education

Damn near half of all Asians...they really are the Model Minority

:wow:

I can guarantee you there are dumb Asians out there. Vast majority of those allowed to immigrate into the country are those with cash, familial support, and other means of obtaining success. When you have resources, you can better handle putting your kids in stuff like Kumon, SATprep classes, student clubs, and other extracurricular activities. A bunch of Asian parked their asses in Gwinnett Co, GA (one of the top counties for education in the state of Georgia) cause they had the money to get house out in that competitive market, meanwhile all types of barriers stop black people from trying to escape the projects in the metro Atlanta area.

A shyt load of them were cheating heavy in engineering school when I was there. Had an Indian dude retaking calculus with me after we both flunked the class. They ain't naturally smart, just that they had parents who had time and energy after work to crack the whip on them.

They ain't letting the low class ones off the boat, unless they're ready to pay some triads a bunch of money while paying off the debt frying chicken or giving happy endings in massage parlors.

School is not interesting to the majority of kids. How many people are technically smart and like learning but don't like the process of sitting in a classroom and memorizing what the teacher tells you to? Not everyone learns the same, and the school curriculum can kill your passion for anything beyond the textbook.

There's plenty of smart kids in black neighborhoods. Unfortunately there's also plenty of bad influences and distractions. At a young age your mind is extremely malleable and what you see in your environment can influence your focus in the present and into the future.

A lot of folks are more capable of learning outside of the classroom. "Just sit down, be quiet and do the work" doesn't work for every student. They already don't wanna be there. Make learning fun and interesting, experiment with teaching methods, try more hands-on learning exercises.

And yes, the household plays a big part as well.

It's simple, we don't take school seriously.
:why:Black people were lynched from trees for trying to read, and later had to be escorted by soldiers with assault rifles into public schools when integration happened, and some how black people don't value education?

Only thing that changed was that the dominant society saw that they couldn't stop black people's attempts to claw their way to victory, they had to use socio-economic means to crush our morale.. Siphoning money from black school districts, and taking away opportunities every which way. Kids can't even get proper nutrition to promote acquisition of knowledge, textbooks outdated and falling apart at the seam, negative environments.

Ask the coli teachers, the same teachers that had black students, what they had to deal with. :wow:

I wouldn't put "don't value education enough" in my top-5 for the reasons that kids failed to achieve. There are far more important factors than that, and repeating a mantra of "try harder black children!" is going to have a very limited effect until those other factors are addressed.

I taught Black students for my entire public/charter school career, over 90% Black student body for half that time, and I wouldn't even put "don't value education enough" in my top-5 for the reasons that kids failed to achieve. My response to that, is good luck.:hubie:

I said it before, but a lot of us just gone have to look after ourselves and our own.

Making the comparison to "Asians" is nonsense. You're looking at just 4,000 Asian students in your entire sample, a huge % of which are the children of doctors/scientists/engineers/wealthy businessmen or others with advanced degrees. These aren't a representative sample of Asians, they're way overrepresented by the successful ones who immigrated based off status. And then even the ones that didn't have those advantages are having peers, playmates, study partners, etc. with all those advantages.

If you looked at the Asian subgroups that aren't heavily selected for top performers (Hmong, Cambodians, Pacific Islanders, etc.) you'd see a very different picture.

The test scores are a problem, but it's the Black/White comparison that matters, the Asian #'s are too cherry-picked to mean anything.
Theres always an excuse. Whether it's asian, Hispanic or white, black kids are underperforming. That's inexcuseable but y'all always have excuses.

chronically underfunded schools from early education through high school level
+ entrenched teacher bias regarding gender
+ actually adopting oppressors' opinion of how to discipline your own children
+ too many parents will never show up to PTA or board meetings where policy is made, but will show up at every sporting event, to tell themselves they're "involved"

Change the ingredients, change the recipe. :francis:
