Those PFF rankings are strange. Packers O line 5th pass blocking? :mindblown:

when the packers suck somebody has to take the blame, reality is rodgers hasnt been that good this year

who you going to blame?

I don't think Rodgers has ever had a top 5 pass blocking line.

They had a beast OL last year, 2nd only to Dallas. Sitton and Lang are perennial pro bowlers and they had the rookie Linsley playing very well. When Bulaga is healthy, he's a top 10 tackle. I thought they suffered a lot of injuries this year though, so I'm surprised they were still ranked this high.

What it shows you is how important Jordi Nelson is to that offense. I been saying for the past couple of years that you can't really blame the O-Line for Roger's struggles (relative).

Hell of a read here, warning: a lot of x and os

Where Did it All Go Wrong? The Rise and Fall of Chip Kelly

Tldr: Chip doesn't utilize match ups or even attempt to maximize talent of his players(ie running zone reads with bradford). He values perfect execution of his plays, which is hard to do in the NFL. He is almost willing to give tells on the play being run with formation. Basically, his idea is my scheme is better than your d, fukk adjusting. If there's failures, its on players.

Hardly encouraging imo.

Hopefully he'll swallow his pride and make changes

I tried to tell people.....he's from the high school coach level of thought that if you run my scheme perfectly even if they know what's coming they can't stop it. If he gave up his simple ass offense and let a proper OC come in and install their offense with elements of his it'd be fine.

Pat Flaherty is actually a pretty good O-Line coach. It's just the Giants get hurt too much at O-Line and Pat tried to reshuffle it as best he could. I think our line would be better under him.

I think its not impossible to work but you really have to have near perfect personnel for your scheme and an elite HoF QB, like Pats with Brady or Saints back when they won it all. That varely rarely happens in the NFL.

and even then, :beli: will exploit weaknesses and matchups still. each time pats faced the colts in offs beli just power ran over them.

I think our oline is both lack of talent and cohesive scheme. I dont think theres an oline coach in the league who can make marcus martin better, for example.

Well we were killed by injuries. I agree with Marcus Martin, it boggles my mind how bad a player he is in the NFL, because he was a really good player at USC. But he could still develop into a competent backup he's only 22. But this year is flush with good free agents and we have some guys that could be something, we just need to upgrade at center and that solves half of the problem (we're gonna need to draft one this year the free agent class is beyond ass.) Otherwise we need to make sure Kilgore stays healthy since he's the only competent center we have on staff.

A proper OC like the 26 other teams that had a lower offensive ranking than Kelly's offenses had over the past 3 years? :childplease:

The system made Nick Foles into a pro bowl caliber QB, so I don't see why you think it has to have a perfect QB. In fact, the system has been called QB proof. He doesn't require QBs to make extensive pre-snap reads, he doesn't require them to go through a ton of progressions. It's a pretty simple offense for a QB.
