How about we make a top 10 list of the best spitters from the 90's and 00's...
Have we come up with a rule for which decade a rapper is from yet? :tochilol:
I say just go by the debut album. Either group or solo.
So Face and Cube are 80s rappers. Jay is a 90s rapper.
Cormega is a 2000s rapper.
Lox and Cam is 90s.
Fab is 2000s.
Em is 90s.

Also, how exactly are we judging this? I mean if we taking straight spitting, I'd put Pharoah Monch over Pac, but as a whole Pac is one of the GOATs. So what about that?

The debut album thing should work for most, with some exceptions (like Lil Wayne).

As far as the Pac thing, I think this thread is going for more lyrical prowess, acrobatics, and skill than overall package as an artist (quality of albums, etc.) I could be wrong tho? @Wacky D

No exceptions. Wayne debuted in the 90s. :yeshrug:
Think about how ridiculous it is that Mega is a 2000s rapper. :lolbron:

I disagree with that criteria. Eminem is 90's? His first album and best IMO was a flopped underground regional record that sold 1,000 copies. His second album and break through singles came out in '99. Eminem's impact and career is defined by the '00's. It should go by where rappers had more impact, peaked, projects. Really more like an All-Decade team type of thing.

Lil Wayne ain't no 90's rapper :heh:

The thread is pure spit in a cypher setting.

Lol, there's gotta be exceptions. Everyone knows between jail and being shelved for the entire duration of the 90's that Mega is from that era.

And do y'all even want to claim Wayne? :dame:

Dudes like Beans, Wayne, and the like are up in the air when debating that 90's or 00's rapper shyt.

How about multiple decade artists compete against themselves ...
96-99 lox vs 00 lox
97-99 fab vs 00 fab vs 10s fab

etc

no that's not how it works. things sell & don't sell for different reasons.

the lox MPR album was apart of bad boy's shiney suit era run. anything less than platinum really wasn't possible. meanwhile, "we are the streets" is exactly what the title was about. and you couldn't go anywhere without hearing that album that year, if you from the east coast and you were in the hood. not to mention all the emcees that were birthed from that tape. but let you tell it, an album that came & went in '98 had more impact.

and I guess you think I'm stupid. you pull up a gold certification listed under September 2001 for an album that came up just a month beforehand. so youre trying to tell me that the album went gold in a month but couldn't ship another 500,000 in 15 years. man you cool and all but don't insult my intelligence. and I remember jada going plat or shipping it off the debut.

:mindblown:

breh believe in whatever u want - fact is i provided proof of the lox saying themselves that their biggest impact was with puff/bad boy in the late 90's

as far KTGG

Kiss Tha Game Goodbye and Kiss of Death went Platinum...
How is that laughable. I don't think y'all understand how nice some of those guys are.

Wayne is washing nikkas off swagger, charisma, and flows alone.

Do you really think an album that went Gold in a month hasn't gone Platinum 15 years later?

Answer these hypothetical match-ups do you really think...
'96 Bun B would beat an '06 Lil Wayne in a one-on-one cypher?

'95 Raekwon would beat '07 Joe Budden in a one-on-one cypher?

J.R. Writer may not be a better artist or song crafter than a lot of 90's rappers but pure spit he's better than most.

I'm not a huge Lupe fan but as a technical lyricist and pure spitter he's better than a ton of 90's acts.

Drop your 25 I'm curious... :manny:
