Not saying I disagree with you but there were quite a few spitters in the 2000s.

Jacka
Phonte
Killer Mike
Elzhi
One Be Lo
Z-Ro
Murs
Mitchy Slick
Lupe Fiasco

And yeah a couple of them came out the gate in the late 90s, doesn't change that they reached their peak in the 2000s.
Yeah. You right. Elzhi :wow:

I don't have a dog in this fight at all. None of these brehs would make a 90s list for me.

I didn't say G Rap. But I'll hold my L for saying Face and Cube. How is Bun B an 80s rapper?

:russ:Jay ain't an 80s rapper breh.

You right.

Not a huge fan of Bun, but yes.

Smuddens? :scust:

:tochilol:
I only claimed Jay for Hawaiian Sophie and The Originators. I wasn't being serious just playing hardball since y'all wanted to claim Fabolous for a couple features on Clue tapes in '98.

I disagree with you there. I think Wayne would beat Bun in a cypher like I said off charisma, swagger, creativity, flows alone not to mention the humor and wit a prime Wayne could display and punchlines he could spit. Bun is dope but not a monster like you claimed IMO.

Buddens is nice AF with the pen, line for line Rae is not fukking with him especially in a battle. Budden is an effortless writer this shyt is really a sport to him. Them nikkas didn't want it on wax. Save your pre-conceived notions and biases about his personal life and judge this on pure spitting.

Fabolous doesn't warrant a Biatch face

Put some respeck on his name him and AZ are two spitters that spit multi-syllable damn near their whole careers...

Fabolous is another effortless spitter still doing it at a high level today.

Got it. I was never trying to claim any 2000s rapper as a 90s rapper, but I get it.

I'm not a huge fan of either. I enjoyed Wayne on the mic in the Carter 2-3 era - but was never a huge fan.

Buddens never did nothing for me. He can rap though.

He doesn't. Fab is nice with it. He's another rapper who doesn't really do much for me though. The :tochilol:was for you saying he would take out a lot of 90s rappers. Not saying that Fab is wack.

J.R. Writer may not be a better artist or song crafter than a lot of 90's rappers but pure spit he's better than most.

ehh

jr writer was an underrated song crafter. he just got stuck in the midst of formulaic 2000s variety albums.

he had plenty of underground tracks that were much better than most of the stuff that made his album. even the freestyles he did, weren't just freestyles. he had hooks and made them into his own songs. he even had next level hooks.

a lot of those guys that are notorious for being just freestylers that cant make tracks, could low-key hold their own thru a solo album, better than a lot of '90s acts that are heralded as the goats.

that's what I was really hoping to get across with this thread. I'm gonna do a spin.

but the thing is he is a 90s rapper ... everyone gets better through time...

wayne didn't get better. he just clicked up w/ gillie.

RARELY do rappers get better with time. theres a few exceptions but wayne isn't one of them.

rappers are usually at their best coming out the gate.

if we're talking pure organics, this rap chit is more like a sprint. not a marathon.

even the heavy lyrical guys like nas & Raekwon would get waxed.
