:what: His album came out in 2000 nikka. The scenario was if The Lox died that year.

and "money, power, respect" came & went in '98.

and I don't like to use the scenario of them dying, because like jadakiss said "you kno dead rappers get better promotion".:usure:

so can we please just use the scenario of puffy blackballing them or something? cuz if they all died in 2000, they would instantly be seen as the GOAT rap group.

its only a handful top tier artist that fall into that 80s-90s lane
the top 3 are

  1. cube
  2. scarface
  3. LL

kris, ra, kane & chuck had sucess in da 90's but no one will say there're 90's artists

Its more than them though. Kool G Rap, AG, Pharoah Monche, Guru and a lot more artists were on the circuit in the 80s but weren't really recognized until the 90s.

just for clarification purposes, by 2000s, I mean 2000-2009. and not the rappers that started poppin up in '08-09 that moreso blew up in this current decade.

not true. Plenty rappers have died and didn't get that treatment. Remember Freaky Tah. I didn't see him suddenly get placed as the best nikka in The Lost Boyz cause he died. And if they got blackballed and wasn't able to release new music. They would be looked at as a dope 90s group who fizzled out. Just cause their chapter didn't end in the 90s and they was poppin in the 00s don't mean they not 90s nikkas. There's literally no argument u can make that would make what u sayin make sense fam. Lol. U can't just create ur own rules wit this shyt.

actually, Black Rob 'life stroy' did go platinum

bad boy was da most successful urban label
damn near everybody on da label went plat
Bro. I said in the 90s. Life Story dropped in 2000. He didn't go platinum in the 90s fam. Lol. @Wacky D gonna dap ya post knowing the scenario proves he reaching. Lol. The scenario was if The Lox died in 2000. He can't say they would've been Black Rob status considering the fact Black Rob didn't do what they did in the 90s.

He was still on the song and everyone knew who it was. Also. nikkas Done Started Somethin.
:what: nikka. U tellin me that dope ass back n forth on Banned From TV or their verses on 24 Hours To Live and All About The Benjamins don't mean nothin? U fukkin buggin in here nikka. Lol. U really tryna argue a platinum group ain't mean shyt in their era. Lol. There's plenty of songs that would still pop without certain features. That dont mean shyt nikka. This is the mental gymnastics I'm talking bout. U refuse to give up on this shyt fam. U wrong.

youre putting too much food on my plate.

I didn't say their verses meant nothing. I'm saying that their verses didn't move the needle for these records.

theres a reason why sheek & jada get lukewarm reactions when they perform benjamins in comparison to inferior rappers like diddy & lil kim. those were the verses that moved the needle, along with biggie. they could've replaced the lox on benjamins & honey with a group like say the sporty theivz.

and no, I'm not saying that the sporty theivz are on the lox level at all, but they were serviceable enough. and chit, i'd bet they could've sold more records on their debut than the LOX if "cheapskate" & "no pigeons" were pushed by puff and had that bad boy machine & late '90s cosign.

I dapped him because he noted that black rob went platinum, and you were claiming that he didn't.

and that's what we were arguing about. you were claiming that he didn't go platinum & didn't have the exposure that the lox had. you didn't start arguing about his release date until now that youre proven wrong.

and I thought his album came out in '99 anyway. either way, it doesn't matter. the argument was based off of bad boy status. he was there with the lox the whole time. if the lox steered off the road after their debut like black rob did, they would be in the same boat.

that's because freaky tah was usually just the hypeman. its not even possible for anyone to be considered the best in that group except mr cheeks. he was the only one rapping 90% of the time. come on SPLIZ, you looking desperate with that one. plus the lost boyz were QUIET when he died and were a couple years removed from their heyday on top of that.

and youre proving my point. the difference between the lox being a dope upstart group that fizzled in the '90s after a shakey album.........and a legendary group that were iconic in the streeets for an entire decade.

I'm not saying that they aren't '90s niccas. I'm saying their legacy is with the 2000s. they can do interviews & try to hold a firm grip on their bad boy run in hopes of getting more notoriety for those bad boy records and getting more '90s nostalgia money, but they were really just expendable roleplayers on bad boy's team at THAT time. and really just an upstart group in the grand scheme of things in the '90s when all the other groups are brought to the table.

props on the time-stamps and quotes

but that has nothing to do with this.

you can compare bad boy to the bulls, but how much did the lox have to do with that? they could've been replaced with a lesser-yet still serviceable group and bad boy would've still had their run.

the lox weren't the Jordan/pippen/rodman to bad boy.
they were more like harper/kerr/kukoc. and I'm being generous with that. cuz I'm leaving out all the r&b acts over there that were bigger than the lox.

:snoop:

breh - of course they wasnt jordan/pippen/rodman

BUT again u still missing the point he brought up the word (( IMPACT ))

the LOX most successful recording was there debut album off bad boy in 1998 'money power & respect'
album went platinum • single off it went gold

none badboy
Lox WATS gold • no single
jada KTGG gold • no single
jada KOD gold • no single

:mindblown: why its so hard for u to understand

this is why you shouldn't base stuff off of sales. and I'm sure youre just doing this on purpose.

all those albums you mentioned, had more impact than MPR. lol. MPR just benefited from the shiney suit gravy-train.

and not that it matters, but KTGG went platinum, and I'm sure KOD did too.

listen, if yall want the lox on the '90s team so bad, then take em. and take Camron & fabulous too.

BUT just know this is a two-way street. you take them, and you have to give a helluva lot more away to the '80s.

with that said, I might do an '80s spit vs '90s spit next week. and its not looking too good for the '90s right now. but yall will find a way to vote for them still.
