Source also gave Uptown Saturday Night 3 mics. Their credibility to me had been suspect for a minute.
:heh:

While we're on the topic, they gave Dah Shinin 3 mics as well. Source for the most part hit it on the nail but yeah sometimes they got it wrong. I say its 5 mics but at the least this should have been a 4.

It's kinda wild that arguably the two most known songs in Duck Down history (This version of Wreckonize and Black Moon's I Gotcha Opin remix) aren't on either of the group's album

Had to add them (and Buck Em Down rmx) they were too good :wow:

And the title track and Me & My bytch had different samples as well. I think I like the album version of Me & My bytch more but the OG Ready to Die is tough:

True!!

I liked the OG "Me and My B*tch", but the album version was better to me, with the keys and strings was CRAZY!! Lord Digga and Norm did that one. That's one of my favorite tracks on the album.

I already had Ras tape when this single dropped so it didn't bother me AS much. I bought the cassingle for the remix.

There are really few cases of this phenomenon worse than the following

The remix

The album version

:gucci:

Funny story about "Poppa Large" remix.

That's a remix credited to Beatminerz, but Evil Dee said it was actually produced by one of their OG's who was using the name with them, but he actually did the beat alone and they didn't do it, lol. But the crew had just started working under the name "Beatminerz", so he used it for that remix, that had the video.

That's a classic! We loved that track when it dropped.

The original is on there too bro, but they were one of the few that had the remix and the original.

:ohhh: I swear mines only had the remix.

:heh: I've actually brought up the OG not being on the album a few times on here. I just looked at the wiki page, now I feel crazy as hell. :mindblown:

But I also remember my copy of Stillmatic having No Idea's Original as the last track, so who knows

The Bootcamp shifting away from the Da Beatminers was one of the true travesties of the 90s

It's a fair critique I'd say, I can see some folks feeling underwhelmed and perceiving it as Black Moon Jr., especially the point about a lot of songs blending in

Yeah, Heltah Skeltah and Smif N' Wessun wanted to branch out and not be under Beatminerz anymore. Health Skeltah was mad vocal in interviews about wanting to do their own thing and break away from the camp for production. After Dah Shinin', everyone started working with other producers too. We see how that worked out, lol.

Nocturnal and the OGC joint were the last true BCC projects we got, in '96. Sh*t was downhill after that. Until Price went solo a million years later.

I mean I think it was you or some1 else in this thread who mentioned the artists he was producing would give them samples and he was just like "nah"

if that was the vybe it doesn't sound like a match made in heaven.

it is what it is; at least we got blessed with some classics that were original and truly stood the test of time.

I wish there were remastered versions of enta da stage and da shining tho.

I think OGC's Empire Strikes Back is better than Da Storm:manny:. Joint had some bangers, the posse cuts hit and Ville and Top Dog were VASTLY improved as emcees/lyricist. Those fellas were damn near Group Home status on Da Storm, Starang carried that shyt.

Yeah, that was me.

He said Tek and Steele always wanted to use popular samples and he was more into using obscure sh*t, to impress Premier and Pete Rock. He would go along with their ideas sometimes, but I think Smif N Wessun felt they could've been a bigger group. At the time, the hype around them was crazy. But then the album dropped, and it seemed like people didn't buy it. Don’t think it's even gone gold.

But like you said, both Enta Da Stage and Dah Shinin' could use another remaster. They've done remasters already, but I could barely tell any difference.

I still like Da Storm better.

That whole summer, when the album was coming out, you would hear "Leflaur Leflah Eshkosha" and "Blah" EVERYWHERE, so that '96 era of Boot Camp and the sound they had right before the crew kinda fell apart is what I always preferred.

It's a damn shame we never got that Starang solo though. He's been promising that sh*t for like 20+ years, lol.
