they pulled that BS with I gotcha open 2...... :ohhh:

How u drop BETTER beats on the singles everyone knows....u spend damn near a dub on an album...unwrap it expect to hear the song u know.... and get okie doked :what:

the Blackmoon one was waaaay worse I shoulda thought of that but I was bumping Da shining on the way 2 work n got mad AF this morning.

Did he do that shyt for the OGC jawn 2?

He shoulda been killed for that grimy move :francis:

edit: ^^figurativly speaking.
Buck Em Down also got a superior remix for the single. Funnily enough that used the same sample as the album version, just a different part.

Shiit that was another 1......
how do they play it on the radio and get air time for the video tho; but you can't put it in an album? :jbhmm:
In all these cases they were released months after the album.

The thinking at the time is you want to give the album a little more burn to the masses but at the same time freshen the song up. So you release that one last single to extend the album's life but update it so the people that were already bumping the album have an incentive to buy it too.

Lol they needed another single for Ready to Die and the original version of One More Chance was too explicit so they did the remix.

They weren't legally allowed to release it but they did anyway and just dealt with the ramifications. Probably had to pay out money to Debarge.
Yeah funnily enough the original version of the album version of One More Chance also sampled an El Debarge song but they couldn't clear it (that version was on a Bad Boy sampler), so the version we got on the album just interpolated the sample. And then the remix sampled a much more known Debarge song and they just released it without clearing it :dead:

Nah, the bold print had some certified heat on it

I'd agree if you switch those out with the first BCC group album. Now that one was disappointing
I like Magnum Force. I actually still listen to it all of the time.

You also can't forget about Bucktown USA remix with MOP

Source magazine gave every album I mentioned Bricklayers of the year. Even if those albums had a song or two here and there, I chalk it up to those albums not living up to the hype that was expected.

Changing their name wasn't the issue with that Cocoa Bz album. That was one of the most dissapointing hyped up Hip Hop albums of all time. And to add insult to injury was the delays and push backs till it finally dropped. That album, Heltah Skeltahs Magnum Force, Canibus' debut, Pras' debut and John Fortes debut all gave us stinkers in 1998.
The Bootcamp shifting away from the Da Beatminers was one of the true travesties of the 90s

YUP!!

When I was a kid, one of my friends had an older brother who was interning at Bad Boy. He had the OG album on cassette, and let me borrow it, so I could dub it, lol. The original version of "One More Chance" was my sh*t! Had the "All This Love" sample on it. So when I copped the CD later, I was bugging out when I saw they changed it! I still have the old cassette with the OG sample on it, and still like that version better.

But when they did the making of Ready To Die in The Source, they mentioned that they couldn't get the sample cleared in time for the release. It wasn't denied, but the process was taking too long, so they had to flip it a little.

Imagine hearing this, copping the album, and it's nowhere to be found :francis:

And it's got a better beat that everything on the album :snoop:

And the title track and Me & My bytch had different samples as well. I think I like the album version of Me & My bytch more but the OG Ready to Die is tough:

I already had Ras tape when this single dropped so it didn't bother me AS much. I bought the cassingle for the remix.

There are really few cases of this phenomenon worse than the following

The remix

The album version

Source also gave Uptown Saturday Night 3 mics. Their credibility to me had been suspect for a minute.
