The revisionist history needs to stop. That album outside a couple joints wasnt good. I love ODB but he was suffering from mental illness and was deeply addicted to drugs/alcohol

Revisionist history my ass. That album got very good reviews in damn near every notable publication at the time. Source, XXL and Vibe gave it great reviews and everybody I know likes the album. It's like an ill psychedelic trip through the mind of a high as fukk Ason. Very entertaining album. The revisionist history is some online nikkas now trying to claim it was trash.
as a wu stan i never fully listened to nikka please just based off of how it was made but my buddy from school loved that cd. I think nikka please accomplished what it was trying to do.

And you rightly should be shocked. That's not what ODB brought to the Wu. He was their unpredictability. Their heart. Energy. Part of their soul. Wu wouldn't have been as exciting if it wasn't for Dirty. They wouldn't be as great and inimitable if he was just another dope lyricist in the group. Wu not Wu without Dirty. They're easily the GOAT Hip Hop group but they haven't been the same since Dirty died.

what I dont get is how people dont understand group dynamics. If you in a group with other brehs, even if its just a duo, you gonna write with them, and share bars, help each other complete shyt when you stuck.. how the fukk you think the LOX come up with them verses going back and forth, locking themselves in different rooms, then magically coming out with verses that compliment each other?

im pretty sure they both wrote each other shyt to keep shyt super fluid and cohesive. what is done in groups is not the same as drake/kanye/diddy/ travis scott type dudes who got TEAMS of people writing their shyt.
I think the problem for me is that it seemed the other producers came in and said "we want to capture your free spirit and make a hit." I hate the Neptunes tracks, and that one track he's not even on with the girl singing...the Billie Holiday jawn, I remember thinking why is she on this song. And I didn't even understand why Irv Gotti was on there. I remember liking one of his tracks, not feelin the others...Also, Irv was beefing with Rae & Power at this time, so it didn't make sense. I also didn't like All in Together Now. I just remember being disappointed by the album. Some tracks he phoned in, but it's Dirty. He didn't show u for his video, but did Crash Your Crew for GZA.
I haven't heard this album in 20+ years. I let someone hold it a few months after it dropped, and they never returned to campus for the next semester. I may buy it again.
Here's the kicker though, I do know a lot of people that liked it.

I hate that that Wutang show came out, it fukked alot of people up and now you got misinformation from both sides
wutang did a good job covering up how and why they would blow up. It was all planned out, people are too fair-weather of fans to really speak on alot of it.

ODB did have substance abuse problems obviously, people act like that was the end and how he's regarded. That's because you are looking at his career through how you saw it in videos and on TV

Its not right but it makes sense, and when you add in his addiction... he knows how to get views to get more money. Everyone in Wutang latched onto money at one point and rolled with it, it worked. But in the beginning people gloss over the fact that it was "get money by any means" if that meant ODB writing MethodMan, or Gza writing for ODB. They were laying a foundation "by any means". People get caught up in the "if it happened one way, it cant happen the other way" and that's just ignorance.
and you see exactly what happened... it worked out for all those who put in effort. And then money became the main problem about who did what... and what went where. Then they all separated for a minute ... but they always came back for that bag. It even took them all a long ass time to realize what RZA truly built. Fighting over money is trivial when Rza has a money printing factory with your name on it. ODB being a fiend and seeing the attention wild shyt brought just figured it out earlier than others. Thats why he went to Def Jam and all that, its about the bag and it always has been. Nobody is gonna listen to a lame ass version of ODB kicking knowledge and shyt he figured that out day 1 to set himself apart. Fame is its own drug
