Diesel is my favorite display of Ason Unique's lyrical ability as well as his understanding of the lessons. I'm still deciphering some of those lyrics to this day.

When nikkaz wanna get into their "ODB couldn't rap" bag, that verse, along with an old Tim Westwood freestyle with RZA, Meth, MK & Dirty is what I point them to.

Didnt meth come out and say gza and he wrote most the odb shyt tho?? so which is it? Im confused...genius lyracist? or a genius and wild personality with a great voice and uniqu flow who rza knew was a star so they helped push him out to the forefront in the early days?.....i honsetly have heard both. Just like most nikkas over 35 know that meth back in the days was very popular for bytches loving him early on and getting the earliest solo push while others say it had nothing to do with the women he was actually the dopest back then....

The thing is ODB himself said he wasn’t a rapper, he was a singer. I’m his own mind he was like David Ruffin and them, a real soul music type dude.

He used to rap Rza and Gza’s old routines that he had memorized so that he would fit in during the cyphers and they didn’t mind cause they were always working on new stuff, and to him rapping their verses was no different from singing an old soul song, he would put his own flavor on it and make it his. That’s why despite not writing most of his own stuff there was no father to his style. His style was always unique.

God Bless the Dead but, ODB was one of the bottom 3 members of Wu-Tang :ld:

If you disagree, you have ear AIDS :patrice:
Nah it’s just old head mythology
nikka was complete garbage on the mic, man had none of the best verses on his own album
Need to make a thread on it but he was one of the first examples of image taking you farther than your actual rapping ability

Not to kick dirt but over the years Genius has had his rhymes stolen by Dirty. Dirty has even said old GZA rhymes on his albums. I don't doubt Dirty was bodying dudes with GZA rhymes mixed in with his own flavor back in the day.
They were trying to tell us something on "Damage"
Remember GZA used to rap WAYYYY more aggressively back in the day.

No one's saying he was lyrical miracle but that he was sharp and the image of him being a drunken clown was done purposefully and after his passing, it's the only image they like to portray him as. Listen to Diesel, Wasted Time, 16th Chamber, you'll hear how serious he was about his craft. Nowhere near as silly as people like to portray him as.
nikka Please was a TERRIBLE album :hhh:

Blowfly is the closest to being a father to his style.

*Son of Bazerk , sort of too
