No one's saying he was lyrical miracle but that he was sharp and the image of him being a drunken clown was done purposefully and after his passing, it's the only image they like to portray him as. Listen to Diesel, Wasted Time, 16th Chamber, you'll hear how serious he was about his craft. Nowhere near as silly as people like to portray him as.
Naw he portrayed that image himself when he was alive. He got on tv and went to pickup food stamps in a limo.

Nicca, knock it off and stop ifantilising Dirty. The nicca was a grown ass man that was a hardcore addict and lost his battle to the drugs.

NO ONE told that nicca to crash the grammy stage and whine about buying an expensive suit and sh't on Badboy

NO ONE told that nicca to do interviews deep in BK with no shirt and shoes on

NO ONE told that nicca to pickup a welfare check in a limo

NO ONE told that nicca to respond he was out for delf when ole girl asked him what he was doing for the community on TLR

NO ONE told that nicca to bumrush random studio recordings and lay vocals and then piss on other niccas plaques

Just stop the nonsense and scramble to deflect accountability off of him :snoop:

The way dirty is portrayed now is because of his wild ass actions. There can't be no smoke without fire, esp in this case.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
I remember years ago when the Alkaholiks had an interview in some magazine and even they said that ODB was actually very intelligent and smarter than them and that they were real surprised because of his image.
Busta said he used to come around and quiz busta on his shyt and be teaching other guys lessons as well

I never caught Gza rapping the same verse till later. What that "I grab the mic n Ima damage ya"?

It not as much freaked me out as it dissapointed me. I'm not for ghost writers.

I take writing serious and feels it comes from an artists soul.

The second I learn an artist has a ghostwriter, I have trouble trusting any of their verses were theirs.

I'm no drama queen, but I may be as intense as one! Lol
meh you a purist and idealist...

old dirty is a gifted performer, he could have his raps written because his delivery would still be out of this world.

people play to their strengths and a good team knows how to do that.

You are right I am at times an idealist.

I love ODB but thought others were under the impression he was always a junkie.
Almost to the point he was unintelligent and couldn't even read lyrics.

But he was far, far from that. His voice, even his look - represented poverty an addiction - but he rocked alot of high end gear as well - his way and seeing that was beyond inspiring - everything about him was an expression of a certain form of hip hop.

There are people in this thread disrespecting Ol' dirty b*stard who were clearly never there to see his albums drop in person. They don't get it at all. It's like these new kids are watching the Hulu series going back and dissing him.

Personally from the clips of the Series I'm not feeling it. I prefer all of Wu Tang's music, videos and interviews.

But the series is a great addition to their legacy and successful. Ppl said it was good but I don't know where to see them.

The ones dissing ODB make me angry and I feel they are anti-hip hop just for the fact they are dissing him.

If they don't like him they should move on - wordless on him.

I have a problem with anyone who disrespects ODB.

Yes, he did cause destruction I get it. But he was also very, very creative and contributed so many great moments to hip hop.

Voice, image, stage show, era, classic albums, vibe, energy and most of all his love!

iirc it was an LL Cool J plaque.

But anyway, I wasn't trying to sh't on Dirty, but reality is reality, niccas need to stop sugarcoating sh't.

And as far as him rhyming goes

I was always under the impression he was an incredible freestyler but he never made many of his own structured verses and by the time it got to him making his album he was so deep in his addiction he had to lean on GZA heavy.

Damage>>>>>>> though and to me

All I know is I've heard wu members say odb was a beast in freestyling.

Yeah he freestyled parts of Dirty Version, a lot of his guest appearances and random Wu tracks. There's GZA and RZA on there as well, but he'd go into the booth an spit whatever.

I'm glad they put that easter egg in An American Saga, when RZA told him to go write for real, and something original.
