I remember when I graduated from high-school and started working full-time. Worked shipping and receiving which lead me to take an interest in Engineering. I thought an engineer was a train conductor before that.
Expecting to have someone figure it all out early is crazy and how you get people doing things and going into debt over shyt they don’t want to do.

A state with one of the shyttiest public schools systems is pretending to care about education by basically forcing folks into taking on college debt but more accurately being pushed into the military.
Imagine your parents paying taxes for your school to operate. paying the teachers wages. You passing all your classes getting straight A's

You also know their buddies are probably opening up expensive Trade Schools that have no promises of landing a role either.
Remember, no Department of Education either, so state controls what’s a school or not so I wonder if they can make up a bunch of bullshyt colleges these kids can enroll and dump money into.

If Democrats leadership takes over, reinstates Department of Education, invalidates a bunch of credits earned from that ‘education’, etc. Republicans won’t feel bad people will be out there with worthless degrees because they already took the money and got the bag.

Not going to lie - as soon as I saw the tagline, I didn't initially see what the problem was myself; these 3 routes of what most of my peers took in the late 90s when we graduated.
If you listen to the entire video, though, you quickly see why this is problematic.
Honestly, I never gave thought to what would happen to the special education students in my school when I was there; something like this prevents those kids with the inability to do one of those three things to even procure a high school diploma. That is demonic, and just because it's not the child of the average parent doesn't mean it shouldn't be concerning for all parents.
I also hadn't thought of the creative crowd either - those who went into music, dance, acting, visual arts, culinary arts or just starting their own business...hell, just the people who wanted a break from school for a year or two to really consider how they wanted to move forward with their lives. How do you tell someone they are mandated to take one of these three directions in order to get the document which proves they've completed their 13 years of compulsory education???
I wonder what the workarounds will be, as I'm sure folks will be thinking of it. Can folks just apply for college, get accepted, graduate and then just opt out of going? Can they do the same with trade school? Forcing people to serve in the military again and we aren't under a draft is disgusting as hell. How are they going to enforce this stuff? It definitely reminds me of something someone I know recently told me - TPTB have a plan for how to exploit each individual in society, whether s/he is aware of it or not.
The main blessing I can even see here is recognizing this might be the beginning down here in the Bible belt, so parents who see this can start preparing ASAP. I still cannot believe all of these people voted for an administration which continuously articulated and still does its desire to dismantle the fukking Department of Education...and then doubled down on the decision by insisting these folks were just selling wolf tickets just to get their votes but were never going to follow through on their promises.

You can’t compel people to go to college, trade school, or the military and then say if you don’t you don’t get a high school degree.
How do you even enforce that? Is the government covering the cost of college or trade school? What happens if you move to Utah right before you graduate high school are you compelled to do this for a semester worth of education?

So if your parents own a small business like a restaurant how exactly are they going to hold back your diploma if you go work for them after high school and don't fit into that criteria? Or an actor or stand-up comedian? Or make music after high school?

I still remember once when I was in high school in the 2000's, we went on a "field trip" to the Cargill company. And it really was just for them to try to recruit us to work for them one day. And the teachers were hyping it up too

Think about everyone else who stands to make money off of this...do you think the first of those people will be the kids themselves?
*For-profit post secondary schools get paid in high tuition and fees...or will they make college free now?
*The military gets bonafide stream of fresh bodies to keep the machine manned and carrying out the interests of our government and for-profit defense contractors
*The prison-industrial complex gets a free labor source for many of the kids who may end up there if they can't take advantage of the other opportunities
I'm not saying this as someone who 100% cosigns what the Democrats do, but can someone honestly tell me the last time the Republicans sought to implement something that was actually beneficial for most people. Like, seriously???? I know when stuff like this is intentionally done and a bunch of white kids are hurt, then they really give zero Fs about us. Here in the South, this is a party who loves bootstrap rhetoric.
