Oklahoma’s Governor announced new High School graduation requirements that give only 3 options: college, trade school, or the military

Good. Because these new parents clearly don’t care. Someone has to push these kids to do better.

Do better? How does this force anyone to do better?

All you did was transfer the graduation requirements from state control to being controlled by the shyttiest trade school in Oklahoma.

I’d love to be in charge of that school, I’d rack up so much money in application fees from kids who have absolutely no intention of actually attending.

Let me ask you this.

Do you think this requirement will apply to rich people’s kids who want to take a break and travel across Europe before deciding on what to do next?

:usure:
And I ask you, don't rich people get away with murder in damn near all situations while the rest of the world has to abide by the rules? Why would this be any different? The rich aren't going to play by the rules no matter what we are talking about.

Bingo! Wait till they see all the fraudulent schools that open up just to get the money. With lax to little oversight

ITT Tech ain't gonna have shyt on what's about to happen.

I don't know how they can really enforce it. Although I would like to see Highschool students able to do their trade certifications in High School. Plumbing, HVAC, Electrical, Auto Repair. you could really reimagine school for these kids. I also like the financial literacy aspect of it, but I think you need to start when they are in 1st grade. Start with saving money and work your way up over the years. Not wait till 12th grade to do it.

This nikka has never set foot in Oklahoma to say some dumbass shyt like this. I’m not attacking you personally, but this is legitimate ignorance
Some of ya'll really don't give ideas a chance. Instead of reading the entire thread seeing how each of my responses change based on getting more information, some of ya'll read the first post and go crazy.

I love the idea, as I learned more, I noticed this was half baked and my support completely dropped for it but this is thecoli. I ain't reading the entire thread before I hit reply and I am going to call you ignorant in the process

You say I didn’t read through the thread, when you didn’t even read through my post lmao I don’t know you to call you ignorant. I said what you posted was ignorance. Nothing about Stitt should be president of the US, even before this dumb ass proposal.

If the governor of North Carolina said one thing I possibly agreed with, I wouldn’t automatically say I want him to be president because I have no firsthand experience in what he’s actually done in his current role. There is no metric about the state of Oklahoma that points to the governor being an effective leader.

Didnt read much of the replies.

As if getting a high school diploma isn't hard enough. Now less people are going to have it, and you need the diploma to get a job or go to college. I see this hurting more people than it's supposed to help.

And to take it a step further this seems like one of those things of lets target the people directly because THEY are the problem. Not our fukked up systems and institutions, it's these lazy kids that need to WORK harder.

The problem with the ideas you have to consider the source that it came from.

There's nothing in this man's history to suggest that this is not going to be in a scheme to create a pipeline to force people to do something they don't want to do.

Do they have a funding source for people to go to college or Pell grants or some sort of access to financial aid?

Do they have child care options?

This is the same governor who literally would not have up-to-date textbooks that some kids in schools had textbooks that still showed George Bush Jr as president like 5 years ago.

All this will do is force people to do something they don't want to do or make young people flee the state. And the rules enforcement will be lax and you will see a bunch of fraudulent schools just making a lot of money for who bankrolled it.
