Most HBO series like this usually get very good around Ep 5 or 6.

Like Game of Thrones took some slow turns after the tower push until we get Ned vs Jamie. Westworld dam near lost me because the first eps where so boring and hard to see where it was going. Boardwalk Empire didn't start off the greatest either.

I'm waiting for Love Craft Country.

I figured it was some sort of mechanism that auto-released when triggered...similar to ejection seats in fighter jets. As far as Gossett, I figure he's a super of some sort. With his connections in "high places", he may be behind the scenes manipulating a lot of what's going on in Tulsa. I'm definitely interested in who he is and what his purpose is.

Good point, didn't even think about an auto-eject. I remember from the movie when tv he comedian died, the cops had stated that he was over "60 and still built like a linebacker" (something like that), I assumed the chief was on some drug/ had powers surviving the crash with just some scratches.

I definitely saw when he dipped his hand into the boiling water to get the boiled egg and didn't even flinch.

Anyways. I really don't know much about the comic, never saw the movie, so I am kind of lost, its all over the place and doesn't really give newbs an explanation to what's going on. I think the only reason I still keepy watching is because of the visuals and I am anticipating Dr Manhattan :wow:

Yeah, apart from the movie, I don't know a damn thing about watchmen, so we're in the same boat. I can't leave a show where Regina is a cop (SOUTHLAND):banderas:, I'm in the for the long haul.

Could be related to his Pills, maybe he can’t feel or taste without his pills or something. I don’t think they will touch on others having super powers as that negates the theme of Watchmen (excluding Dr Manhattan).

The pills are what made me assume something was up. In the first episode in the dinner scene with the chief, he was sniffing what I assumed to be coke, but seeing the old man take those pills had me thinking they are some kind of enhancer, and the chief wasn't actually using coke.

My Uncle thinks that the person who found Will and his sister after their parents were killed was a member of the Minutemen, which was founded 18 years later in 1939. My bet is Hooded Justice if that were the case, which is why Will is wearing his uniform. So members of the Minutemen/Watchmen have been watching over him throughout the years.

SO YOU THINK HOODED JUSTICE
FOUND WILL 18 YEARS BEFORE HOODED JUSTICE EXISTED?

INSTEAD OF THINKING WILL GREW UP
TO BECOME HOODED JUSTICE?

COULD HAVE SWORN WILL
WAS WEARING A BLAZER...

I kind of think Hooded Justice is him mocking himself after the Black Deputy at the opening scene of the show in the movie he was watching. Plus, I think he said something about Justice before all went to hell for Black Wall Street.

It appears to me that the baby is not Will's sister.

From the reviews Ive read, the baby belonged to the couple, who was subsequently killed, that was driving the wagon.

Anyway, I am not familiar with the comic or previous movie but I did do a little reading after episode 1. I am following along well enough and Im enjoying it so far.

Regina King and Lou Gossett Jr. are killing it and Im excited to see more of the backstory revealed.

I never read the comics.

I saw the movie once - can’t remember a thing about it. Only remember the bare bones (who Dr. Manhattan was, etc.)

But... I’m fukking with this show HEAVY after 2 episodes.

I know there’s probably a lot I’m missing in terms of references and Easter eggs etc. but honestly, if you’re telling a story that requires you read a comic first, you’re telling a shytty story, and so far I’ve pretty much been able to keep up with what’s going on and don’t feel “lost” and that’s because they’re telling a good story and telling it well.

It probably helps that I’m of a generation that is used to comics and comic based stories. I can imagine someone 35 and older with no knowledge of these kinda stories feeling completely lost, but even still, they’re doing a really good job of (seemingly) telling a story that feels like it has history prior to Episode 1 without requiring you know that history.

So I’m basically watching this show blind. I’m not even really reading this thread. Just on my own journey :russ:
