Rewatched the episode just now. I read some speculation that that male clones really were Jon Osterman clones. So, when I watched the "Watchmaker's Son" part again I had a new thought:
What if Ozymandias is making Jon Osterman clones practice the accident that created Dr. Manhattan over and over again, in preparation for locking one of them in a reactor for real in order to create his own, personal Dr. Manhattan?
It's actually a story that has been done before...

I also notice that Ozymandias mentions that the play has 5 acts, so these must somehow represent 5 stages in whatever his overall plot is.

I like the show but it does have some Lindelof Lost type devices I don't like. Similar to Lost he loves to bring up shyt for spectacle purposes that are extraneous to the overall story.
But I really like that the show has a theme based on race and the history of it in America. And all the Watchmen book nods are cool to.
But uh I'm a chill with theories and just enjoy the ride.

The idea that they could video broadcast from Mars Is suspect. Faking a moon landing per say.
Veidt owned a small media enterprise so he would understand how to turn Dr Manhattan into a money maker.
plus why Veidt needed to have himself declared dead.
