Imo, if the US hits Tehran and the mountains, it won't matter. Trump has made it clear the next move will be in Iran. I don't disagree with you, but they need to focus on the homeland. Iraq should not be worth iranians lives.

They are rational and prioritize regime preservation. Avenging Suleimani's death is not worth risking an attack at home. There will be a response likely through proxies, but we are way off from a global crisis or war IMO. More interesting is seeing what happens next in domestic Iraqi politics.

I imagine they'll continue to advance their nuclear ambitions.
