UFC Shogun/wandy is not the shogun/wandy in their prime. Just like Bones didn't beat Rampage in his prime. If you go back and watch the WARS in pride, you will realize there's a reason Wandy sounds the way he does when he talks. you would rewatch the bones/Gus fight and think nice fight, nuthing more nuthin less. UFC doesnt have the wars like Pride would have on the reg, for whatever reason it is.

dudes in pride would get knocked down, stand back up, knocked down agin and keep goin. refs weren't stoppin shyt. soccer kicks to an already knocked out dudes head was the norm. That Barao fight after the kick wld've went on for another 8mins.

Best way to compare is think about how dominate dana and every1 makes Chuck Liddell out to be, like he had this big huge dominate era in UFC. He came to pride and got his ass handed to em, wasn't even close. and rampage the guy who beat got his ass handed to him from Wandy after. so Chuck didn't even lose to the best. fukk even the great 1 Anderson silva caught a couple L's in pride.

Those years i had my bootleg direct tv satellite catching all da pride fights for free, were sum of da best yrs of my life.

steroids are a hell of a drug, those type of fights in pride have no place in the usa. im surprised nobody died

Round 4 was the best.... Gus was winning the first few minutes then Jones hit a spinning elbow and had him on rollerskates the rest of the round. Round 5 both of them were out of gas.

R1: Gus, 2 and 3 were close, I thought Bones won 4 and 5. I'd have no problem with 48-47 either way.

Would love to see those last two rounds. Cause if round 3 was Gusafsson best round no way he wins this fight.

Anderson lost in pride because his BJJ sucked and that shyt was luck by Ryo Chonan, other guy who submitted was true victory
Jackson beats Wandy 3 years after he lost to him, Wandy is only 2 years older than rampage, stop it man
Shogun and him were juicing, so was Crocop, them dudes wasn't shyt when Pride folded and we all know they didn't test in pride

Also Jon Jones would beat Rampage at any age at any time period, he's bigger stronger and faster.
Rampage was never a skilled fighter EVER

Toney never took MMA serious, and MERCER WAS 50, and THEY NEVER TRAINED WITH NOBODY REMOTELY CLOSE TO A PHIL DAVIS OR SOMEBODY WHO KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE DOING
plus how did Mercer fail when he knocked out a much younger Tim Slyvia in seconds, yeah he lost to Kimbo, who was a guy off the street, which proves how much of a joke MMA is. Mercer knocks out Former UFC champ, but he loses to a guy of the street who has just as much MMA experience as he has, onl difference was Bas Ruten was giving Kimbo instructions and Mercer had nobody

an all state wrestler in what? High School, I respect the wrestling Pedigree of Brock Lesnar and nikka was at the top, we talking about pro fighting here
rampage did not excel at wrestling, BJJ, or boxing, he did he alright for himself, such is the case with a lot of guys like fukking Schaub
It only took Jones 2 years to learn MMA

The reason why I'm going so ham is because dude is pathetic with his hand, he got his dukes up like Rock'em Sock'em Robots
and that thing he does with his hand to try to cover his chin is just disgusting to watch, i mean it was effect against the shorter fighters when he'd extend one harm, cover his chin with the other hand while he retreating, but thats like when put your hand on top of your little brother's head while he tries to swing at you
Jon Jones is in a sport where he has to do everything. Regardless he still won the fight. If he was in there with a top boxer. Someone whos hands outclasses his, their grappling probably does not outclass his which is when they will be taken down and submitted or pounded while they're on their back. This is MMA, not boxing. Jon Jones does not have the hands of a professional boxer but hes strong enough Everywhere and physical dominant enough to put it together well. These are the qualities of champions. You dont see a flabby n sick champions and if you do, they wont be the champ long.

You Kimbo Slice comment, I dont think that proves how much of a joke MMA is. If anything it legitimizes it. It shows that when you bring a fighter into his weakness and in the case of the Kimbo fight, that was grappling, its a whole different ball game. Im sure Ray was working takdown defense but obviously, when you're not used to it, its difficult to defend. In Mercer vs Sylvia, Sylvia stood in front of a boxer trying to prove a point and felt the hand of god.

Jon Jones another man with a good wrestling base. Some people are just freaks of nature and catch onto disciplines faster than others and it has everything to do with being able to do everything well while others are only able to do some things well. Not everyone has these gifts and being a boxer doesnt give you a special inate ability to become a great grappler just like being a great grappler does not give you an inate ability to be a good striker. There are plently of dudes that are nice on the mat but cant put it together in the Octogon when facing people that are good at everything. By age 18 Tyson was already considered a future heavy weight champion by the way he was wrecking everyone.

I get it though. Cats like you wont be satisfied with any pro boxer getting in the ring unless his name is Floyd Mayweather, Manny Paquioa or some other cat in the top ten. You're convinced boxing is the best and cant give respect where its due. It is what it is. :manny:

Just watched it now

I had it 48-47 for jones.

Great fight by Gustaffsson, he just didnt have the experience of going 5 rounds and gassed out, i would pick him in a rematch aswell.

cant believe how great and close the fight was

He just had that cut from that fly by punch.

Did you see Gus fukking face. :dahell:
Nah dude, Jones' lips looked like he was forced to eat bags of salt and vinegar chips...:skip:

The fight was way too close to call...As the champion, Jones did enough to deserve the benefit of the doubt...But he got exposed in the process...

Jones is too cerebral, he thinks too much about strategy and etc...He started winning the fight when he let loose, and became a fighter and not an athlete who fights...

That's the trend I am not liking about UFC....Champions like GSP, Henderson (before he lost) and Jones think too much...I have noticed that fighters who go on all out attacks tend to finish more often...

Although he didn't finish, Cain's non-stop attack of JDS should be the style of fighting that should get the most promotion...Not these chess matches...

Just watched the fight. 48-47 Jones. Rogan misled the audience into thinking Gus HAD TO BE winning going into the final round. Either way, it wasn't a robbery, and the only people claiming as such are butthurt Jones haters.

Cain is a overpowering wrestler. It's his strategy to smother and not give his opponents room to breathe. Most other fighters don't have that wrestling or strength advantage.

For example, Jones's strength is his reach. It would make no sense for him to smother. He plays keep-away in a sense, and strikes when he sees an opportunity.

It was a close one and we now know Jones is beatable. I think Jones slipped by with that win but he most surely lost round 1.

Nah..Gus won the first 3 round. Jon got boxed up quite a bit. May not have been huge shots but solid shots win rounds.
