I hate that people are using this movie being so great to throw the MCU under the bus. Two completely different types of movies and we can appreciate one without diminishing the other. There's room for "traditional" blockbusters like Top Gun and the spectacle of superhero movies.
I think people enjoy practical stunts over the cgi overload of marvel

I'm glad it wasn't a diversity for diversity's sake movie. They had four Black men involved with the mission and a woman. No one felt shoehorned in like we've seen in other films and television recently. Looking at you Star Wars.

You can have "less than 4" significant "non shoehorned in" characters though.

They are not mutually exclusive and it is not about headcount in and of itself. OP was speaking about the significance of the roles.

Exactly. I especially enjoyed a an action movie that felt BIG that didnt end with a cgi monster fight, or in a weird dystopian cgi world. This goes beyond marvel.

Almost every movie at the top fits this. Maverick is already at $548 million and will cross a billion i predict, with how rewatchable it is.

Everytime I saw Payback I couldn't help but think about the Wayans family and how none of them are at the forefront of the industry. Dude really looks like a Wayans family member.

I had low expectations but its pretty good. Not classic like the first, damn near close and basically a remake.
