Panel of F-16, F-18, F-22 Raptor and 5 Gen pilots reviewing the movie. Starts around 6:10:

Basically, they all loved it.

What was cool was seeing them talk about ego for pilots and you can see how so many of these guys are real humble and down to earth.

Like when they asked if unmanned fighters would be the future and fighter pilots would be a thing of the past and they pretty much said "Not this generation because it's confirmed the 6th gens are manned, but wouldn't be surprised if the generation afterwards was 100% unmanned."

Just keep it real honest and humble which I guess you gotta be to be in the profession.

i like how they straight up say an F-22 and any 5th gen fighter is comically better than a 4th gen

Yeah, they definitely are.

Like they mention later on too it'll come down to the pilot.

Similarly, this article here you can find out they're not unbeatable though:

Moreover, the F-22 is not invincible. It may be one of the most advanced aircraft ever built, but it doesn’t give its pilots superpowers. That is why over the years, in other training exercises, the Raptor has been “shot down” by F-16s and Navy Growler jets. Likewise, more recently, German pilots flying Typhoons have determined the best tactics for combating the F-22.

“No matter how magical the F-22, any pilot can make a mistake,” admitted Lt. Col. Dirk Smith, a Raptor squadron commander.

As noted, one mistake is the matter between being the pilot who buys the drinks and being the one who might be “honored” afterwards as one of the fallen.

:wow:
They talk about that exercise here, with another Raptor pilot (timestamped):

Another really dope video with that same Raptor pilot training a new Malaysian pilot while going up against an F-22 this time:

That clip of the Raptor right behind them was something else.

No Whammies!!
I enjoyed it, but TBH the plot was actually kind of sillier than the original. The original movie was a "sports movie" in planes. The sequel was basically the "Star Wars trench run on the Death Star briefing and attack" scenes expanded out to the length of a movie.

The whole setup of "We need to use old obsolete fighters to run down this trench because for some reason modern technology won't work" was straight out of Star Wars.
They even had a briefing that mentioned that
"The target was a ventilation port that was only 3 meters wide"

Then, later on, they did their own version of the "I don't know...fly casually!" conversation between Han and Chewbacca.

It probably IS a better movie than the original, but it pulled harder against my sense of disbelief.

Great video of a dog fight from that same Raptor pilot I posted before but in an F/A-18.

I really like how much of a breakdown he gives about what's going on in a dog fight and keeps pausing the video to explain what's going on.

Really goes to show how much of a chess match is fought in air and how it comes down to pilot vs pilot rather than tech vs tech.

Starts at about 8:35:
