I mean this is so obviously a nod to nostalgia both in regards to the original and to old big adventure classics like Indiana Jones that its hard to take your critique of it being unrealistic seriously. No one, least of all the filmmakers, was trying to make this bit realistic. I hope you don't watch all movies with this kind of critical cynicism. I can't imagine what action movie could live up to your criteria for realism.
