Borderline perfect movie. I have my problem with certain things like the mission selection or even why they're using old jets, but... this was pretty much flawless.

only old jets on there was the F-4's i believe... but that was the enemies jets...the F-18's on the otherhand...still being used by the navy...thats not ending anytime soon

Damn this was good. I worked on Super Hornets when I was in the marines and had me liking this flick even more. The flying scenes were amazing. I‘m pretty sure the Navy didn’t let Tom go up in a hornet by himself but I wouldn’t be surprised if some of his scenes were filmed in a 2 seater and made it look like he was flying solo. Has he said if he actually flew a jet like he did in the last Mission Impossible?
Breh. All the scenes were in two seaters!!!! The actors were pulling real G's!! The actors operated their own multi camera mini IMAX systems from the back seat.

Tom can fly jets though.

Just saw this. Didn't make it to 4d, but I might watch it again at a 4d theater. It was seriously that good to me. One of the best and most entertaining movies I've seen in a while. The last 30 - 40 minutes was fukking intense. This is definitely better than the original imo. I'm not very knowledgeable with fighter jets so is there a reason why all the pilots in the original had co-pilots like goose, but in the new one only bob was a co-pilot.

My only issue was that it didn't make sense to me why hangman was left back as a reserve when he was the best pilot there. I get why rooster was there, but the others were not as good as hangman. I'm probably missing something

Supposed to be the successor to the sr-71
The blackbird was the 1st thing I thought of when I saw that jet.

In terms of aviation the super hornet isn’t really that old at 21 years considering the F-15 entered into service in 76 and the F-16 in 78 and both are still in use today.

Bob wasn't the only weapons system officer. There was another person, he just didn't get much shine. As for the dual question, some jets are made with extremely complex weapons systems. The back seat person can control the systems so that the pilot can just focus on flying. There are different variants of the f18 with and without a back seat. They even make a twin seat version that isn't called the f18 but the ea 18g growler. It's purpose built to be electronic warfare.

Holy shyt this movie was ass. Are y’all serious? The plot was DUMB AS fukk!!!!!!

A run stolen from the 1st Star Wars really??!! Ohh the dangerous mission where we have to shoot a missle in the only vent capable of blowing the base all the way up.

We are in 2022. This mission could have been accomplished by cruise missles and drones. If a fighter was to go in why wouldn’t they use and F-22? How are they getting carriers that close to a base without radar seeing that?

The F-14 Vs 5gen fighters was utterly absurd. I don’t care if Jesus was flying the F-14 it’s a no contest.

If they used F-22’s instead of F-18’s I would have liked the movie better.

Best part to me was when the tomahawks were launched and flew over the planes on their way to attack.

I hated how to pilots interacted also that shyt was so cheesy, nobody had a real persona except Miles Teller. I did like how they finally bonded in the end.

Also the big black dude had every job in the Navy? What was his actual duty? He was mission control, then he was like a drill sergeant, then he worked the flight deck on the carrier wtf?!
