When they asked the Mandalorian blacksmith if she knew what species Baby Yoda was, she mentioned that in the old days the Mandalorians fought against ancient sorcerers called "The Jedi".
Is it possible that "Jedi" is actually the name of Yoda's species in this new continuity? Because that's what the Mandalorians seem to think. I'm thinking of the line "The Mandalorians are not a race, they're a creed". Maybe the new interpretation is that the Jedi started out as a race and grew into a creed as they took in human Younglings.

that jetpack upgrade (gonna help him out in MANY situations)
those gems the Armorer laid on him (new sigil, new role he must accept, new responsibility he must take up, new mission he must now accomplish)
the opportunity to serve a greater purpose in his life - no longer just wandering from job to job, planet to planet, looking for work; his 'job' now is to care for the foundling Child like his own, discover his origins & return him to his kind.
Oh yeah, and Carl Weathers waving his fingers at baby Yoda & saying "Come on baby! Do the magic hand thing"...and baby yoda is like "Hey!" smiles, and just waves back at him....
