This was a good ass movie:whew:
Serves as an educational piece to the Teamsters/Hoffa like Casino did for Vegas/the skim.
I don't know what Scorcese has in his future but this is likely the curtain call on his mob flicks :mjcry:
He made sure to drop every name he could from Giancana, Marcello, Gallo, Columbo, Bonanno, Salerno, Trafficante, Bruno...
I still hope someone can do a legit Outfit movie or series.
Seems the folks more educated on the story appreciated it differently.
I got no gripes except for a crippled Deniro puttin the beats on anybody:mjlol:
Pesci was top notch.

i need a Luciano series badly. Everything involved, need all the players too. Especially Anastasia and Murder Inc

No way they would have been able to get close enough to Hoffa to clip him, he was super paranoid around that time. Frank did it. He might have embellished some stuff in the book but the Hoffa hit was definitely him
I don't think the mob would trust Hoffas son to be in on it. They probably used Frank to lure him somewhere and someone else did the job.

From a historical angle, it's a great story. Pesci owned this movie, & deserves an Oscar for this. He takes every scene he's in.

Trying to make Pesci & DeNiro look young, distracted me sometimes. This isn't the best mob movie, or even Scorsese's best. But I compare it to Once Upon A Time in America, an equally long epic with a superb cast.

Maybe because we expected another Goodfellas & Casino, it feels underwhelming, but the acting & history are given their due.

I have never watched Once Upon A Time in America? Is it worth watching? I loved The Irishman, Goodfellas, and Casino. Since I loved all three of those movies will I like Once Upon A Time in America?

Loved it. Just an acting clinic across the board. It's slow, it's quiet but the pacing was beautiful. A rare movie that took it's time instead of rushing. The last 30 minutes you could make a metaphor for what I think Marty was going for with this movie: the last of an era telling a raw but melancholy story you haven't heard yet.

It wasn’t without its faults, the CGI wasn’t the best and like many have said, De Niro really looked 76 in this. I understand they couldn't do this without the aging technology but if Pacino had a body double, I don't know why Bobby couldn't get one too.

The arm. I couldn't take my eyes off his arm.
Me neither. The arm and the blue eyes had me looking at my tv like

This is just a general statement, but I see people saying :damn: "what happened to good cinema, why can't they make movies like this any more?!"

Which is :gucci: because I've been singing the praises of foreign cinema since SOHH. It's one of the main reasons I was picked to be a mod for this sub-forum.

Now, if you're specifically talking about mob flicks....yeah. Those are mostly dead. And the mob (as depicted in these movies, anyway) is specific to America.
But if your primary source of movies is what Hollywood churns out....:mjlol:

My pick of the year (which could change, haven't seen this movie yet) is "Parasite" by Bong Joon-ho. It did get a very limited theatrical release but it was "out" months prior to that.

Anyway, I'm sort of rambling but cinema is fine. Always has been. Some of you cats just gotta stop acting like the local cinemaplex is the be-all-end-all when it comes to movies.

Scorsese told an important story with this...but trying to protect his cottage industry and taking shots at Disney will be his undoing.

Once Jimmy Hoffa got introduced the shyt went down hill for me... does it get better, because I had to pause it out of annoyance.
It gets better.

But I did kind of get lost when he was introduced but it picked right back up about 25 to 30 minutes later.

It got confusing for me when he was introduced.

Idk why y’all didn’t like it I thought it was a masterpiece. Scorsese took his time and told a great story. The screenplay was awesome. Deniro and Pesci are such a great team. Old skool tough guys yet gentlemen.
im waiting for multiple Oscar noms.

Yo :russ::mjlol: when Frank whupped the dudes ass in front of the store for shoving his daughter. No fake sound, no extra bs just pure kick ass. Even the way he walked away and came back was so pure. man I loved this flick.

:lolbron: Franks walk was gold.

Btw the actress from the sopranos Kathrine Narducci family was connected for real. She’s a good actress but plays versions of the same character all the time.
Has she had botox? Or was that just a look they gave her for the role? Her lips looked off big time. Shes always been a natural beauty...absolute italian dime.
