Movie is a fukking masterpiece

The pacing was unbelievably slow to me. It starts with just a taste of action, no major setpiece or anything, and then it bogs down to a long investigative segment for what seems like a hour before you get real action again, and then it slows down again. Not to mention all the fukking whispering, there's zero voice projection or energy brought to the movie. It's a very low energy movie and no one is there to break up the monotone feel, in reality that person should have been Gordon, Penguin or Catwoman, to an extent Catwoman does but not enough, she spends most of the movie whispering and scowling too.

I didn't think Riddler was a very strong villain whatsoever, and this interpretation of him I wasn't a huge fan of. It's a somewhat realistic take, but he has zero charisma or aura, and the riddles themselves seemed inconsequential until the very end.

Lastly I didn't think Pattinson was a good Batman OR Bruce Wayne. He's the worst one to me by far, he doesn't pull off the look, his voice doesn't project, and when he's not playing Batman he spends most of his time looking sad and brooding. I find that in most good adaptations of Batman, Bruce knows how to blend in with a crowd and have a good time, he's very charismatic and knows how to get people to do what he wants, Pattinson seems far from that. He has school shooter energy just like the Riddler, and neither one of those characters are supposed to be portrayed that way.

It seems like people ignore these problems of the movie because “it’s just year 2 Batman”….A Batman like this makes for a bland 3 hr movie.

Funniest part of the movie:
When he glides off that building, hits a bus, a parked car and rolls on the pavement and gets up like, "Ouch my back!" but is fine I was crying.

3 hours of my life I will never get back. I liked the atmosphere of Gotham, Catwoman & Penguin.

Pattinson I thought was miscast for this role although if this is only the first in a trilogy I am willing to cut him some slack.

This is my favorite Batman movie…. It felt like the Batman version of the last Casino Royale film. It really got the character to his roots and he’s raw and fukks up. That car chase was also great too. The way the soundtrack backed the Batmobile reveal…. You understood perfectly why Penguin was scared and ran.

Before reviews came out. I constantly hearing people shytting on this movie and I was confused af. Then once reviews came out I'm like damn a good DC film.

This exceeded my expectations. With all the more lighthearted superhero stuff coming from the MCU. This being a 3 hr suspense dark Batman movie was great for me. I'll admit this movie might not work with everybody, but if it does you will love it. Hopefully DC can build off this momentum.

The whispering damn near took me out of it. And the daylight scenes being dark as well.

This takes inspiration from the Arkham games which was cool.
The goddamn whispering though.

I didn't like the movie because Batman and Gordon were terrible detectives that didn't accomplish anything besides helping the Riddler and couldn't figure anything out.

Him and Gordon accidentally sent the files to the media like it was set up for them.

They misread the clues about the rat after Riddler pointed them right to him. It was fairly obvious who it was if you thought about it, even without the clues.

They only knew who the rat was because Catwoman handed them a taped confession.

They only caught the Riddler because he turned himself in after killing his targets.

Batman didn't figure out Riddler's Endgame until he saw a video confession of it and was too late to stop it.

What did Batman do that couldn't have been done by competent cops?

Yeah the Deus ex Machina in the film was my only complaint, but like others have said this version of Riddler is like the Seven murderer and just 5 steps ahead of Batman…. Except he may or may not know Bruce is Batman…..

So basically what if the detective from Seven was an unstoppable human weapon?

Also what if Bruce Wayne was Kurt Cobain?

Jokes, aside this is one of my favorite Superhero joints, peroid.

Bats going from shy and reserved around the cops while they called him a freak into a beacon of light in the city was a nice touch.

They also captured how psycho Bats is for doing what he does. Luckily he's a psycho for good

But him being such a recluse as Bruce Wayne has to end because he needs both sides to help Gotham now.

What Pattenson does with the Bruce Wayne character in future movies will be interesting to see. He was pretty damn good as a beginner Batman here.

And finally, Matt Reaves is just good at these blockbusters. Let him do whatever he wants from here.

I think so too…. Though in theory the Bruce Wayne “character” is something he will build eventually to give back to Gotham as a philanthropist. Like using his wealth to try and fix Gotham from an institutional perspective.
